Abstract

Single-Use Plastics have gained popularity in the last few years, and the notion is reflected in Indonesia. This research aimed to describe the portrayal of single-use plastics in popular Indonesian online news portals, specifying on which topics are associated with plastics, and who are mentioned in the headlines in mitigating and managing them, and what attitudes are embedded in the headlines This research takes a qualitative approach with a discourse analysis method, focusing on headlines. Data collection is done using means of online search engines, looking at headlines from Liputan6.com, Kompas.com, and Detik.com within the time period of August 2017 until July 2018. The research found that topics are most commonly associated with the idea of urgency, being a threat to marine life, and a human health risk, as well as recycling, and bans and levies./ Plastik Sekali Pakai telah mendapatkan popularitas dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, dan hal tersebut tercermin di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggambaran plastik sekali pakai di portal berita online Indonesia yang populer, menguraikan topik apa saja yang terkait dengan plastik, dan siapa yang disebutkan dalam headline dalam mitigasi dan pengelolaannya, serta sikap apa yang tertanam dalam headline tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode Discourse Analysis dengan fokus pada headline. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan search engine daring dengan melihat headline dari Liputan6.com, Kompas.com, dan Detik.com dalam jangka waktu Agustus 2017 hingga Juli 2018. Penelitian menemukan bahwa topik paling sering dikaitkan dengan gagasan urgensi, menjadi ancaman bagi kehidupan laut, dan risiko kesehatan manusia, serta daur ulang, serta larangan dan cukai.
