Abstract

Diskriminasi terjadi di banyak negara dan Indonesia merupakan salah satunya. Di Indonesia, etnis Chinese lah yang mengalami diskriminasi tersebut, meskipun banyak tradisi Chinese yang telah diterapkan di bangsa Indonesia. Menurut Chang Yau Hoon (2008:138), etnis Chinese diposisikan sebagai pendatang baru selamanya, tidak masalah berapa lama mereka tinggal di Indonesia. Namun, tidak hanya sekedar ras saja, tapi di agama juga menjadi salah satu faktor diskriminasi di Indonesia karena mayoritas penduduk Indonesia beragama Muslim. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi untuk menganalisa artikel dari Islamtoleran.com dari tiga bulan terakhir mengenai Gubernur etnis Chinese pertama di Indonesia, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) yang berhubungan dengan Front Pembela Islam (FPI). Peneliti akan menggunakan teori Semiotika dari Ferdinand de Saussure untuk menganalisa setiap teks sebagai tanda dimana akan menghasilkan tentang representasi. Melalui penelitian ini, peneliti telah menemukan lima karakteristik yang direpresentasikan oleh Islamtoleran.com tentang Basuki Tjahaja Purnama yang berkaitan dengan Front Pembela Islam (FPI) melalui analisa teks yang dilakukan oleh peneliti. / Discrimination against minority happens in a lot of countries, Indonesia is one of them. In Indonesia the discrimination is experience by Chinese ethnic, despite of the culture that has been adopted by Indonesia itself. According Chang Yau Hoon (2008: 138), the Chinese are positioned as newcomers forever, no matter how long they have settled in Indonesia. Not only race but religion also a major discrimination in Indonesia since majority religion in Indonesia is Muslim. This thesis will use qualitative research with content analysis method to analyze articles from Islamtoleran.com in the past three months about the first Chinese governor in Indonesia, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) related to Islamic Defender Party (FPI). The writer will analyze the articles with Ferdinand de Saussure theory of Semiotics and use the text in the article as a sign to gain a result of representation. Through this research, the writer discovered five characteristics that represented in Islamtoleran.com articles about Basuki Tjahaja Purnama related to Islammic Defender Front (FPI) from the text analysis that the writer conduct.
