Abstract

Human resource is known to play a key role in the success of an organization, especially in hospitality industry. For this reason, companies actively seek for some sort of motivation that could encourage employees’ performance. Through this research, the writer intends to study the relationship of incentive and reward on the employee performance. This research is a quantitative descriptive research using primary data in the form of questionnaire. Questionnaire is distributed to every active employee at The Traders restaurant. Besides, data of this research is also collected by direct interview with the manager in charge. This study applies saturated sampling method where the whole population of this study is taken as the sample of the study. Therefore, the population and sample of this study have equal number, which are 30 individuals. The analysis model used in this research is the multiple linear regression models. The statistical result of this research concludes that individually, incentive has an insignificant influence on the employee performance, and reward has a significant positive influence on employee performance. Simultaneously, incentive and reward have a significant influence on the employee performance. The writer suggests The Traders restaurant to focus more on the reward program rather than the incentive program. The recommendation is based on the research findings which show that the application of reward program has a significant influence on employee performance, while, incentive program has no significant influence on employee performance. / Sumber daya manusia dikenal memainkan peranan yang penting dalam keberhasilan suatu organisasi, terutama dalam industri perhotelan. Untuk alasan ini, perusahaan secara aktif mencari cara untuk memotivasi kinerja karyawan mereka. Melalui penelitian ini, penulis bermaksud untuk mempelajari hubungan insentif dan penghargaan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan data primer berupa kuesioner. Kuesioner didistribusikan ke setiap karyawan aktif di restoran The Traders. Selain itu, data untuk penelitian juga dikumpulkan melalui wawancara langsung dengan manajer restoran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sampling jenuh dimana seluruh populasi penelitian ini diambil sebagai sampel penelitian. Oleh karena itu, populasi dan sampel penelitian ini memiliki jumlah yang sama, yaitu 30 orang. Model analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model regresi linear berganda. Hasil statistik dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara individu, insentif memiliki pengaruh yang tidak signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan, dan penghargaan memiliki pengaruh positif yang signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Secara bersamaan, insentif dan penghargaan memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Penulis menyarankan restoran The Traders untuk lebih fokus pada program penghargaan daripada program insentif. Rekomendasi tersebut didasarkan pada temuan penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa penerapan program penghargaan memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan, sedangkan, program insentif tidak memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan.
