Abstract

The study is based on the lack of students' concept mastery, creativity and confidence. This study aims to analyze the difference of students' concept mastery, creativity and confidence in writing informational text with Four Square Writing Method. Qualitative research is used in Weak Experiment using static-group-pretest-posttest design. There are 37 students involved. There are 20 students in control group with lecture method and 17 students in experiment group with Four Square Writing Method. The data resulted by using rubrik and test which are calculated mean score and N-Gain score. Mann Whitney test is used to examine pretest score and posttest score in both group. Also, the use of Wilcoxon test is for examining control group's pretest and posttest and experiment group's pretest and posttest score. The result is posttest score of concept mastery is assymp. sig (2 - tailed) = 0.003 and N-Gain Score is 0.000, creativity's assymp. sig (2-tailed) = 0.000 and confidence's assymp. sig (2-tailed) = 0.000. Therefore, there are differences score between students' concept mastery, creativity and confidence in control group and experiment group. The improvement in concept mastery in experiment class is proven by receiving higher score than control group in N-Gain, which is 0.88>0.36. / Penelitian ini didasari oleh kurangnya penguasaan konsep, kreativitas, dan percaya diri peserta didik menyebabkan kesulitan dalam menulis teks. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan penguasaan konsep, kreativitas, dan percaya diri dalam menulis dengan Four Square Writing Method. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode Weak Experiment menggunakan desain static – group – pretest – posttest. Penelitian melibatkan 37 peserta didik SMP Saint Peter, Jakarta, yang terdiri dari 20 orang di kelas kontrol dengan penerapan metode ceramah dan 17 orang di kelas eksperimen menggunakan Four Square Writing Method. Perolehan data menggunakan rubrik dan tes yang dihitung nilai rata - rata dan N-Gain. Uji statistik menggunakan uji Mann - Whitney untuk menguji nilai pretest dari kedua kelas dan nilai posttest dari kedua kelas, serta uji Wilcoxon untuk menguji nilai pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian adalah nilai posttest pengetahuan konsep memperoleh assymp. sig (2-tailed) = 0,003 dan nilai N-Gain yaitu 0,000, kreativitas assymp. sig (2-tailed) = 0,000, dan sikap percaya diri assymp. sig (2-tailed) = 0,000. Maka, terdapat perbedaan penguasaan konsep, kreativitas, dan sikap percaya diri kelas kontrol dengan kelas eksperimen. Terdapat peningkatan nilai penguasaan konsep di kelas eksperimen yang memiliki nilai lebih tinggi dari kelas kontrol dengan nilai N-Gain, yaitu 0.88 > 0.36.
