Abstract

Sejak awal 2010, Korean Wave merambah dengan cepat ke seluruh dunia, termasuk Indonesia. Dalam serial drama dan musik K-Pop, selebritas Korea ditampilkan dengan penampilan fisik yang kurus. Standar ideal kurus ini menciptakan tekanan bagi remaja di Korea dan mendorong mereka untuk memenuhi standar tersebut dengan berbagai cara termasuk operasi plastik. Standar ideal ini juga dilihat oleh banyak remaja penggemar Korean Wave di Indonesa. Dari konsep Body Image oleh Thomas Cash, alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Kognitif, Afektif dan Konatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner online. Kuesioner disebarkan ke 30 responden menguji reliabilitas (r = 0,970) dan validitas. Kemudian kuesioner disebarkan kepada remaja penggemar Korean Wave di Jakarta dengan teknik snowball sampling. Data yang telah dikumpulkan kemudian dianalisa dengan menggunakan konsep yang ada. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada dimensi kognitif, sebagian besar responden menganggap bahwa penampilan fisik penting untuk self-esteem. Pada dimensi afektif, sebagian besar responden merasakan body dissatisfaction. Pada dimensi konatif, sebagian besar responden mengeluh mengenai penampilan fisik namun tetap jarang berolahraga atau berdiet. / Recently, Korean Wave which refers to Korean pop culture, has been spreading all around the globe, including Indonesia. In drama serials and K-pop music videos, Korean celebrities and performers had been depicted with particular physical appearance that encourages thinness. This particular ideal has created pressure among Korean teenagers that force them to fulfill those ideals with various means, including plastic surgery. Those ideals are also now brought to Indonesian teenagers through Korean entertainment. Using Body Image concept from Thomas Cash, the three indicators for measuring body image are Cognitive, Affective and Behavioural. The data was gathered with online questionnaire. The questionnaire link was given first to 30 people for reliability and validity testing. Snowball sampling technique was used to collect the sample of 38 respondents. The data was analyzed with existing concepts. The result is as following: most respondents thinks that physical appearance and weight are important. Most respondents also has the tendency to feel dissatisfaction towards their body. Yet, most respondents don’t alter their lifesty.
