Abstract

Manusia adalah mahluk sosial yang tidak dapat hidup sendiri dan membutuhkan orang lain untuk berinteraksi. Interaksi sosial dapat dilakukan secara langsung atau melalui suatu medium tertentu, sepeti menggunakan media sosial. Media sosial merupakan salah satu jembatan penghubung komunikasi, siapa saja bisa menggunakan nya, termasuk pria homoseksual (gay). Pria homoseksual juga tidak terlepas dari kebutuhan hidup yang dapat diperoleh dari interaksi sosial. Seiring berkembangnya teknologi di bidang komunikasi, membawa keragaman pada media sosial, salah satunya dengan kemunculan media sosial Grindr sebagai media sosial yang ditujukan untuk pria homoseksual (gay). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses interaksi pria homoseksual (gay) dengan menggunakan media sosial Grindr. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan cara wawancara (in-depth interview) dan kepustakaan. Melalui penelitian, diketahui bahwa proses interaksi pria homoseksual (gay) dengan menggunakan media sosial Grindr melibatkan tahapan-tahapan perkembangan. Fase awal interaksi adalah dengan melakukan perkenalan dan percakapan tentang identitas diri dari sesama pengguna kemudian dilanjutkan dengan fase personal dimana pria homoseksual (gay) melakukan perjumpaan dengan teman pria homoseksual (gay) secara offline dan dari perjumpaan kemudian pria homoseksual (gay) memasuki fase terakhir dimana pria homoseksual (gay) memutuskan apakah hubungan dari perjumpaan tersebut akan berlanjut atau tidak. / Human beings are social beings who cannot live on their own and require others to interact. Social interactions can be done directly or through a specific medium, such as using social media. Social media is one of the connecting bridge of communication, anyone can use it, including homosexual men (gay). Homosexual men are also inseparable from the necessities of life that can be gained from social interaction. As technology development in the field of communication, bring diversity at social media, one of them with the emergence social media Grindr as social media devoted to homosexual man (gay). This research aims is to find out how the interaction of homosexual men (gay) by using social media Grindr. Data gathered by using interview (in-depth interview) and related references with case study as the research method. Through research, researcher found that the process of homosexual men’s interaction through social media Grindr involving steps for development. Entry phase of the interaction is to do a conversation about identity from fellow users then proceed with personal phase where homosexual men do encounter with homosexual male friends in an offline interaction and from the encounter, the homosexual male entering the exit phase in which homosexual men (gay) decide whether the relationship of the encounter will continue or not.
