Abstract
Family business is basically a person who starts and operates a business which has been planned to have elements of sustainability for their next generations with the same vision and mission to maintain and develop the business. In order to contribute to its long-term success, it is essential for the family business to be well-managed now and in the future. Family members that are included in the family business are required to not only know and understand the guiding principal that steer the overall management and ownership succession process, but also need to understand and fulfill the expectation of other family members or the future management and ownership of the family business. Moreover, family business must have clear vision, mission and values to pass the business to the next generation. This includes the core operating business, some real estate investments, philanthropic activities, or other pursuits that carry the family’s name and reputation. This research is using qualitative methods conducted by interview with the CEO of the company and questionnaire completed by the employees of the company. The purpose of this research is to understand strategies for developing company sustainability and transition process of management and ownership to successor, to prepare the next generation successor, and to overcome challenges that may occurred in transition process to the next generation. The result of this research is expected to be useful for the company and future researchers as study case or references.
