Abstract
The statement of the witness in a criminal case has a very important value in deciding whether the defendant is guilty or not. This is because in the criminal case the truth that is sought is material truth. In seeking the truth, the testimony of witnesses is needed because the information given must be pure from what he sees, he hears and he experiences it himself. In proving criminal procedural law, the trial is open to the public and anyone has the right to witness the trial process. For people who cannot be directly present in the trial process, the press mass media can help distribute information about the trial process through coverage that is broadcast live. This research is intended to examine more deeply the application of the trial open to the public in the trial through the media and witnesses who are required to give information purely from what he sees, he hears and he himself can maintain neutrality in giving information in the trial to assist the trial process.
