Abstract

Perkembangan industri media sangat pesat pada jaman sekarang ini, terutama pada media televisi. Terdapat dua stasiun televisi berita yang mengudara secara nasional di Indonesia. Kondisi ini menyebabkan terjadinya persaingan atau kompetisi di antara kedua stasiun televisi swasta tersebut untuk merebutkan hati pemirsa. Salah satu cara untuk dapat merebut hati pemirsa ialah dengan menampilkan program-program yang menarik agar program acaranya banyak ditonton dan memperoleh rating tinggi. METRO TV dan TV One merupakan tv berita yang memiliki persaingan dalam menayangkan program berita yang menarik dan dalam hal ini menjadikan persaingan dalam memperebutkan pemirsa. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mendapatkan gambaran mengenai Niche Breadth dan Niche Overlap dari kedua stasiun televisi berita tersebut. Untuk mengukur tingkat persaingan di antara kedua stasiun televisi tersebut dalam penelitian ini digunakan teori Niche. Teori Niche digunakan oleh para peneliti untuk mengukur tingkat persaingan atau kompetisi media dalam penelitian. Dari perhitungan Niche Breadth diperoleh hasil bahwa ketujuh program berita METRO TV dan TV One yaitu Metro Pagi, Metro Siang, Metro Hari Ini, Metro Malam, Kabar Pagi, Kabar Siang, Kabar Petang dan Kabar Malam mengarah ke pola generalis, sedangkan program berita Metro Siang mengarah ke pola Moderat. Dari perhitungan Niche Overlap diperoleh tingkat persaingan yang ketat antara tayangan program berita pagi, siang, petang dan malam di kedua stasiun televisi tersebut. / The development of the media industry on these days is growing fast, especially on television. There are two news television stations which broadcast nationally in Indonesia. With this condition caused the competitive or competition between those two private television stations to obtain the hearts of viewers. The way for be able to obtain the hearts of viewers is by showing programs which attractive so many viewed on the show program and obtain a high rating. Metro TV and TV One are two news television station programs which has the competition on broadcast attractive news to obtain many viewers. The purpose of this study research was to obtain an overview of Niche Breadth and Niche Overlap for the two news television station program. To measure the level of competition between the two television stations on this research is used the theory of Niche. Niche theory is used by the researchers to measure the level of competitive or competition in media research. Niche Breadth calculations obtained from the results of Metro TV news programs and TV One which is Metro Morning, Metro Noon, Metro Today, Metro Evening, Morning News, Noon News, Afternoon News and Evening News leads to the generalist pattern, while the afternoon news program leading to a pattern Metro moderate. Niche Overlap calculations obtained from the level of competition between the morning news program show, noon, evening and night on both the television station.
