Abstract

Beragamnya tuntutan masyarakat terhadap informasi menyebabkan berkembangnya industri media, dan untuk media cetak yang mengalami kemajuan adalah majalah. Image merupakan faktor penting agar majalah dapat diterima oleh konsumennya dan Marketing Public Relations (MPR) mempunyai peranan penting untuk membentuk dan mempertahankan image suatu majalah. Cover majalah sangatlah penting bagi tampilan majalah itu sendiri. Selain membentuk image, cover majalah juga menjadi salah satu cara yang dapat menarik perhatian orang untuk membeli. Seperti halnya majalah MAXIM Indonesia yang selalu menampilkan model maupun artis perempuan dengan penampilan menarik dan berpakaian seksi pada cover. Hal ini dilakukan untuk membentuk image yang ditujukan untuk pria dewasa yang sarat akan seni, dan informatif dengan cara menampilkan apa yang kalangan pria suka, tapi tidak selalu vulgar. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode wawancara in depth interview. Teknik pengumpulan data awal dilakukan dengan mewawancarai Managing Editor MAXIM Indonesia mengenai image yang ingin dibentuk melalui cover. Kemudian Peneliti melakukan wawancara dengan tiga informan mengenai persepsi pembaca terhadap cover majalah MAXIM Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi pembaca terhadap cover majalah MAXIM Indonesia adalah majalah pria dewasa yang sarat akan seni, berkelas dan informatif dengan menampilkan apa yang laki-laki suka yaitu beauty of woman bukan porno. / The diversity of society demands of information led to the development of media industries, and for the print media that progress is a magazine. Image is an important factor so that the magazine can be accepted by consumers and Marketing Public Relations (MPR) has an important role to establish and maintain the image of a magazine. Magazine cover is very important for the look of the magazine itself. Apart form the image, magazine cover is also one way that can attract people to buy. Like the magazine MAXIM Indonesia who always show female models and artists with attractive appearance and dress sexy on the cover. This is done to form the image intended for adult men is loaded with art, and informative by displaying what the men like to, but not always vulgar. Methods of data collection in this study using interviews in-depth interviews. Initial data collection techniques performed by interviewing the Managing Editor of the image MAXIM Indonesia who want to be formed through the cover. Researchers then conducted interviews with three informants about the reader's perception of MAXIM magazine cover Indonesia. The results showed that the perception of readers of the magazine cover MAXIM Indonesia is an adult men's magazine is loaded with art, classy and informative by showing what men like the beauty of woman is not porn.
