Abstract

Latar belakang: Mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran merupakan populasi yang rentan mempunyai kualitas tidur buruk diakibatkan oleh stres dan tuntutan akademik. Kualitas tidur dapat menyebabkan kurangnya sekresi air mata yang diakibatkan oleh mata lelah. Hal ini dapat menyebabkan penyakit sindroma mata kering yang merupakan salah satu kondisi mata dengan prevalensi cukup tinggi di Indonesia. Angka prevalensi yang paling tinggi di Indonesia adalah 27.5%. Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara kualitas tidur dan kejadian sindroma mata kering pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Metode Penelitian: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain studi potong lintang dengan metode analitik komparatif kategorik tidak berpasangan. Sampel penelitian ditargetkan sebanyak 161 subjek dari mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan yang diambil secara random. Pengambilan data akan dilakukan dari Desember 2019 – Februari 2020 dan akan diolah menggunakan program analisa data SPSS. Uji statistik penelitian ini akan menggunakan metode chi–square, dan metode fisher exact tergantung dari hasil distribusi data. Hasil Analisis Data: Data didapatkan dari 172 responden menggunakan kuesioner Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index serta pemeriksaan schirmer test. Data diolah menggunakan uji chi-square. Penelitian menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan antara kualitas tidur buruk dengan kejadian sindroma mata kering pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan dengan p-value 0.001. Nilai odds ratio yang didapatkan adalah 2.963 dan hasil confidence interval adalah 1.557- 5.637. Simpulan: Terdapat hubungan signifikan antara kualitas tidur buruk dengan kejadian sindroma mata kering pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan./ Background: Medical students are amongst one of the populations that are susceptible to poor sleep quality due to academic demands and stress of medical school. Poor sleep quality can affect our bodies in many ways, one of which is eye strain, which can cause a reduction in the amount of aqueous tear secretion. This will then give rise to a condition known as dry eye syndrome, which is one of the most common eye conditions with a high prevalence rate in Indonesia. The highest prevalence rate in Indonesia is 27.5%. Objective: To determine wether there is an association between poor sleep quality and prevalence of dry eye disease in medical students Methods: This study uses a cross-sectional study design with an unpaired comparative categorical analytic method. The samples are targeted at 161 subjects from the faculty of medicine in Pelita Harapan University and will be taken by random sampling. Data collection will be done from December 2019 – February 2020 and will be processed using the SPSS data analysis program. The statistics of this study will be tested using the chi–square method, and the fisher exact method depending on the data distribution result. Results: Data obtained from 172 students using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire and schirmer test. Data obtained is analyzed using chi-square method. This research shows that there is a significant relation between poor quality sleep and dry eye syndrome in medical students of Pelita Harapan University with p-value 0.001. Odds ratio value is 2.963 and confidence interval is 1.557-5.637 Conclusion: There is a significant positive correlation between poor sleep quality and dry eye disease in medical students of Pelita Harapan University.
