Abstract

Fenomena standar kecantikan pada perempuan saat ini banyak memberi dampak pada body image seorang perempuan, khususnya pada remaja perempuan. Remaja perempuan yang sedang mengalami banyak perubahan dalam berbagai aspek sangat rentan dengan berbagai penilaian tentang dirinya atau tubuhnya, karena pada usia remaja ini remaja perempuan menjadi lebih labil dan emosional menghadapi segala hal. Penilaian yang diberikan oleh orang-orang di sekitar dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap positif atau negatifnya body image seorang individu. Body image itu sendiri dapat dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya adalah tingkat kecemasan sosial seorang individu dan kepercayaan dirinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisa hubungan antara kepercayaan diri, kecemasan sosial dan body image pada remaja akhir perempuan di Manado. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 116 orang remaja perempuan di Manado dengan rentang usia 18-22 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan tiga macam skala, yaitu skala body image (α = 0.741), skala kepercayaan diri (α = 0.867), dan skala kecemasan sosial (α = 0.924). Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik korelasi spearman’s rho. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif antara kepercayaan diri dengan body image, berdasarkan hasil nilai r = 0.543 dan nilai p = 0.000 < 0,05. Terdapat hubungan yang negatif antara kecemasan sosial dengan body image, berdasarkan hasil nilai r = -0.443 dan nilai p = 0.000 < 0,05. Terdapat hubungan yang negatif antara kepercayaan diri dengan kecemasan sosial, berdasarkan hasil nilai r = -0.779 dan nilai p = 0.000 < 0,05. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa body image yang dimiliki remaja perempuan di Manado sudah tergolong cukup positif, yaitu terdapat 46,55% remaja dan tingkat kepercayaan diri yang tinggi (52,58%). Namun, tingkat kecemasan sosial masih cukup tinggi sebanyak 49,13% / The phenomenon of beauty standards in women today has a lot of impact on a woman's body image, especially on teenage girls. Teenage girls who are experiencing many changes in various aspects are very vulnerable to various judgments about themselves or their bodies, because at this age teenage girls become more volatile and emotionally facing everything. People’s opinion has been influenced how teenage girls see their body image whether it’s positive or negative. Body image itself can be influenced by several factors, including the level of an individual's social anxiety and self-confidence. This study aims to determine and analyze the relationship between self-confidence, social anxiety and body image in teenage girls in Manado. Subjects in this study were 116 teenage girls in Manado with an age range of 18-22 years. This study used three kinds of scales, namely the body image scale (α = 0.741), the self-confidence scale (α = 0.867), and the social anxiety scale (α = 0.924). The data analysis technique in this study used Spearman's rho correlation technique. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive relationship between self-confidence and body image, based on the results of r = 0.543 and the value of p = 0.000 <0.05. There is a negative relationship between social anxiety and body image, based on the results of r = -0.443 and the value of p = 0.000 <0.05. There is a negative relationship between self-confidence and social anxiety, based on the results of r = -0.779 and the p value = 0.000 <0.05. This study shows that the body image of teenage girls in Manado is quite positive, namely 46.55% of adolescents and a high level of self-confidence (52.58%). However ,the level of social anxiety is still quite high as much as 49.13%.
