Abstract

In conducting the business, entrepreneur should have motivation. The businessman should conduct entrepreneurship with high motivation. This research is done at dealer of car in Indonesia, especially in Medan. The phenomena is the lack of business performace of car dealer in Medan. This is because some of owners don’t have motivation to develop the business. The improvement isn’t conducted with good vision and mission. The company’s owner doesn’t have motivation to conduct marketing activities regularly. Some of companies don’t make purchasing of new product with result that the companies offer the car with old year. This research uses the theories about entrepreneurial motivation and its impact on business performance. The framework of this research is to find out the relationship between entrepreneurial motivation to business performance. The methods used by the writer in this research is quantitative research. Data used in this research are primary data and secondary data. This research uses simple linear regression, partial t-test and coefficient determination to know the impact of entrepreneurial motivation on business performance. Based on research result, the hypotheses test of t-test showed that the simple linear regression showed equation of Y = 6.477 + 0.812 X. It means that variable entrepreneurial motivation has a straight relationship to business performance, that if there is an increase on entrepreneurial motivation, the business performance will also increase. The conclusion on this research is the hypotheses test of t-test showed that the variable entrepreneurial motivation has an impact to business performance. The coefficient of determination has resulted in 71.7% variable business performance can be explained by variable entrepreneurial motivation and the rest of 28.3% can be explained by other factor that is not mentioned in this research. For next researcher, the writer recommend to add other factors that can give impact on business performance such as innovation and service quality or trying to use another core business as sample.
