Abstract

Latar belakang: Jumlah kasus diabetes mellitus (DM) dan populasi lanjut usia meningkat dari waktu ke waktu. Populasi lanjut usia umumnya lebih rentan untuk tidak patuh minum obat karena keterbatasan fisik dan fungsi kognitif yang menurun. Ketidakpatuhan minum obat dapat menyebabkan timbulnya komplikasi dan kegagalan dalam pengobatan DM. Jika dukungan keluarga dapat pengaruh yang positif terhadap kepatuhan minum obat pada pasien lanjut usia, maka hal ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan edukasi kepada masyarakat dalam rangka meningkatkan kepatuhan minum obat dan mencegah timbulnya komplikasi. Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dengan kepatuhan minum obat antidiabetik oral pada pasien lanjut usia diabetes mellitus tipe 2 di Rumah Sakit Umum Siloam Karawaci. Hipotesis: Terdapat hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dengan kepatuhan minum obat antidiabetik oral pada pasien lanjut usia diabetes mellitus tipe 2 Rumah Sakit Umum Siloam Karawaci. Metode Penelitian: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain studi potong lintang pada 50 pasien lanjut usia diabetes mellitus tipe 2 di Rumah Sakit Umum Siloam Karawaci. Hasil: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara dukungan keluarga dengan kepatuhan minum obat antidiabetik oral pada pasien lanjut usia diabetes mellitus tipe 2 di Rumah Sakit Umum Siloam Karawaci. / Background: Over the years, the number of diabetes mellitus (DM) cases as well as the elderly population increases. The elderly population is generally more likely to not adhere to medications because of physical limitations and decreased cognitive function. Inadherence to medications can cause the occurrence of complications and failure of treatment. If family support has a positive impact on medication adherence of the elderly patients, this can be used to educate the community in order to improve medication adherence and prevent complications. Purpose: To determine whether there is an association between family support and medication adherence in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes at Siloam Hospitals Karawaci. Hypothesis: There is an association between family support and medication adherence in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes at Siloam Hospitals Karawaci. Methods: This study will use a cross-sectional study design. The samples are 50 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes at Siloam Hospitals Karawaci. Result: There is a significant association between family support and medication adherence of type 2 diabetic elderly patients in Siloam Hospitals Karawaci.
