Abstract

Latar Belakang: Indeks massa tubuh (IMT) merupakan penghitungan yang menggambarkan status gizi. Seseorang yang mengalami menarche dini cenderung memiliki IMT yang lebih tinggi pada saat dewasa dibandingkan seseorang yang mengalami menarche di usia normal atau terlambat. Penelitian mengenai hubungan usia menarche dengan IMT pernah dilakukan sebelumnya, tetapi masih banyak perdebatan akan hasilnya. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara usia menarche dengan IMT pada mahasiswi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan angkatan 2018 dan 2019 Metode Penelitian: Penelitian ini menggunakan menggunakan metode studi potong lintang pada mahasiswi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan angkatan 2018 dan 2019, dengan periode pengambilan sampel Januari-Februari 2020, dengan teknik consecutive sampling. Pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner yang diikuti 186 mahasiswi yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Data penelitian dianalisa dengan pearson chi-square menggunakan IBM SPSS versi 23. Hasil Penelitian: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara usia menarche dengan IMT (p-value: 0,001) dan terdapat pula hubungan antara menarche dini dengan overweight-obese pada remaja (odd ratio 3,893; 95%CI 1,643-9,226). Simpulan: Usia menarche dapat mempengaruhi IMT saat remaja dan menarche dini merupakan suatu faktor resiko terjadinya obesitas pada remaja. People who undergoes early menarche tends to have a higher BMI during adulthood compared to those that experience late or normal menarche. Study on the relationship between age of menarche and BMI has been done before, but the results are still debatable. Aim: To understand the relationship between the age of menarche and BMI of female students at Pelita Harapan University, Faculty of Medicine, batch 2018 and 2019. Methods: This research was conducted using a cross-sectional method with a consecutive sampling technique on female students of Pelita Harapan University, Faculty of Medicine, batch 2018 and 2019 from January to February 2020. Data was collected using questionnaires with 186 female students participants who met the inclusion criteria. The research data was analysed by using pearson’s chi-square test in IBM SPSS version 23. Result: The relationship between age of menarche and BMI (P-value: 0.001) and the relationship between early menarche and overweight-obese in adolescent (odds ratio 3,893; 95%CI 1,643 to 9,226) was both significant. Conclusion: The age of menarche is proven affects BMI during adolescent and early menarche is a risk factor for obesity in adolescent.
