Abstract

Latar Belakang: Indeks Massa Tubuh digunakan untuk menentukan status gizi. namun indeks massa tubuh tidak dapat menggambarkan status gizi pada bayi, ibu hamil, binaragawan, pasien dengan asites, pasien edema, dan lain sebagainya. Uji korelasi antara IMT dengan LiLA dapat digunakan untuk menilai adanya status gizi yang buruk pada suatu populasi. Walaupun telah dilaporkan penelitian mengenai korelasi antara LiLA dengan IMT pada usia anak-anak, ibu hamil, wanita usia produktif, dan pada pasien dengan penyakit ginjal kronik, namun belum banyak diungkapkan korelasi antara IMT normal dengan LiLA pada usia remaja akhir yang lebih stabil massa ototnya. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui korelasi antara LiLA dengan IMT normal pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan Hasil : Hasil uji korelasi antara LiLA dengan IMT normal dari 101 responden didapatkan bahwa LiLA berkorelasi dengan IMT melalui persamaan berikut :IMT=14,46+0,28 x LiLA(cm) (R² = 0,315), dengan Koefisien korelasi Pearson r = 0.561 dengan kebermaknaan 99% (P Value <0.01), sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat korelasi menengah antara LiLA dengan IMT normal pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. /Background: : Body Mass Index (BMI) is used to decide one's nutritional status. However, BMI is unable to illustrate the nutritional status of infants, pregnant women, athlete, patient with ascites, patient with edema and so on. The correlation study between BMI and Middle Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) can be used to determine poor nutritional status in a population. Although studies have reported on the correlation between BMI and MUAC in children, pregnant women, productive age women and patient with chronic kidney disease, there has not been much study on the correlation between normal BMI and MUAC in late adolescents whose muscle mass is more stable. Aim :This study aims to know the correlation between normal BMI and MUAC in the medical students of Pelita Harapan University Result: Results from correlation from 101 respondents shows MUAC correlates suitably to BMI by means of the following equation (simple linear regression): BMI = 14,46+0,28 x MUAC (cm) (R² = 0,315), with a Pearson r value of 0.561 (p<0.001). thus it can be concluded there is intemediate correlation between normal BMI and MUAC in the medical students of Pelita Harapan University
