Abstract

Data menunjukkan, penduduk Tionghoa hanya menyumbang 1,2% dari keseluruhan penduduk Indonesia (Indonesia.go.id, 2020). Terlepas dari adanya Sentimen Anti-Cina di Indonesia yang dimulai dari abad ke-18 hingga puncaknya yaitu, Pemerintahan Orde Baru. Tionghoa Totok sebagai bagian dari populasi Tionghoa berhasil mempertahankan budaya, tradisi, dan bahasanya di Indonesia (Setijadi, 2016). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana Tionghoa Totok berhasil mempertahankan nilai-nilai budayanya di tengah sentimen Anti-Cina di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi sebagai metode penelitian, pendekatan penelitian kualitatif, dan Teori Negosiasi Identitas. Hasil penelitian ini adalah Tionghoa Totok masih menurunkan nilai-nilai budaya Tionghoa dengan tetap melakukan semua itu seperti biasa dan atau hati-hati karena sebagai identitas mereka sebagai orang Tionghoa. Selain itu, Tionghoa Totok juga belajar beradaptasi dengan menerima segala kondisi di Indonesia khususnya Sentimen Anti-Cina dan bergaul dengan orang Indonesia dalam kehidupan sehari-hari termasuk melakukan aktivitas sehari-hari bersama./Data shows, Chinese population only contribute 1.2% of the overall population of Indonesia (Indonesia.go.id, 2020). Despite of the Anti-Chinese Sentiment in Indonesia, which started from the 18th century until the peak, which is New Order government. Totok Chinese as part of Chinese population is successfully maintaining their Chinese culture, traditions, and language in Indonesia (Setijadi, 2016). The purpose of this research is to know how Totok Chinese is successfully maintaining their cultural values amidst the Anti-Chinese sentiment in Indonesia.This research is using phenomenology approach as research method, qualitative research approach, and Identity Negotiation theory. The result of this research is Totok Chinese still pass down Chinese cultural values by still doing all of it just as usual and or carefully because as their identity of being Chinese. In addition, Totok Chinese is also learn to be adaptive with accepted all conditions in Indonesia especially The Anti-Chinese Sentiment and get along with Indonesian in daily life including having daily activities together.
