Abstract

Kesenjangan gender antara laki-laki dan perempuan masih menjadi permasalahan yang terus diperdebatkan hingga saat ini, salah satunya dalam bidang ekonomi. Perempuan masih sangat sulit mendapatkan akses dengan mudah dalam mendapatkan haknya di ranah pekerjaan seperti dalam penerimaan upah ataupun fasilitas yang didapatkan dalam area pekerjaan. Diskriminasi dalam bidang ekonomi ini sangat dirasakan oleh perempuan di India dengan melihat semakin menurunnya tingkat partisipasi tenaga kerja perempuan di bidang ekonomi. Permasalahan kesetaraan gender menjadi salah satu fokus utama bagi para aktivis maupun organisasi internasional, maka dengan ini penelitian yang dilakukan ingin mencari gambaran faktor apa saja yang menyebabkan menurunnya partisipasi tenaga kerja perempuan di India serta upaya apa yang dilakukan oleh UN Women selaku organisasi internasional dalam mendorong pemberdayaan ekonomi perempuan di India. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan merujuk pada metode penelitian historical comparative agar dapat memberikan gambaran permasalahan dengan adanya perbandingan sebelum dan sesudah peristiwa yang ada. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan teknik kepustakaan dan juga penelusuran daring. Dari data yang didapatkan tersebut penulis akan menganalisis dengan teknik analisis naratif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, penulis menemukan bahwa permasalahan pemberdayaan ekonomi perempuan di India masih menjadi fokus yang terus ditingkatkan baik oleh pemerintah, NGO setempat ataupun organisasi internasional seperti UN Women. Namun, penulis menemukan bahwa program-program yang telah dilakukan oleh UN Women belum dapat berdampak terhadap meningkatnya pemberdayaan ekonomi perempuan dengan melihat tingkat partisipasi tenaga kerja perempuan di India yang semakin menurun hingga saat ini./ The problem of gender gap between men and women is still under debate until now. One of aspects in gender gap can be seen in economic sector that women have access difficulty to obtain their rights in workplace such as wage or the facility that they get in the workplace. This discrimination is still rife with women in India by seeing the decline level of women participation in economic sector. The problem to achieve gender equality for women is one of the main focus for activist or international organization, so this research would like to give an overview of the causative factors that relate to the declining Indian women participation and the efforts of UN Women as one of international organizations to achieve economic empowerment for Indian Women. This research uses a qualitative method by using historical comparative method to give an overview of the problem by giving the comparison between before and after the event. The data collection in this research were obtained from online and literature studies. Then, all of the data that were collected had been analyzed in narrative analysis technique. Based on the result of this research conducted, it was found that the problem of women’s economic empowerment in India is still one of distinctness that Indian government, activist or organization international such as UN Women would like to improve. However, this research found that programs that have been done by UN Women had not impacted to the raising of women’s economic empowerment in India by seeing that the level of women participation in economic sector still declining until now.
