Abstract

The effects of Transformational Leadership styles on Organizational Performance are deemed inconsistent due to various findings on previous researches and business phenomenon of digital startup firms showed a massive digital transformation creating new economic ecosystem. This research aim is to construct Empowering Knowledge-based Interaction to fill the research gap. This research seeks to investigate the mediating influences - known as Empowering Knowledge-based Interaction, Absorptive Capacity, and Organizational Innovativeness - on the relationship between Digital Transformational Leadership and Organizational Performance. Through purposive sampling type, there are 258 Indonesian digital startups limited companies that were founded within the past 3 years and are actively in operation with or without funding from an investor, and registered under Tourism and Creative Economy Board. Data were collected through online questionnaire and 144 digital startup companies are valid as samples. This study used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques and SmartPLS software to process the data. The results partially support the model. The findings suggest that digital startup firms should consider Empowering Knowledge-based Interaction in enhancing Organizational Innovativeness and Organizational Performance. Results also indicated that the direct effect of the digital transformational leadership on organizational performance with profit and earnings dimensions was negative. The findings confirmed the mediating role of the empowering knowledge-based interaction, absorptive capacity, and organizational innovativeness - in the relationship between digital transformational leadership and organizational performance. / Pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan transformasional terhadap kinerja organisasi masih inkonsisten berdasarkan hasil penelitian sebelumnya dan fenomena bisnis dengan perusahaan digital startup yang masif transformasi digital telah menciptakan ekosistem ekonomi baru. Penelitian ini berupaya membangun konstruk pemberdayaan interaksi berbasis pengetahuan (Empowering Knowledge-based Interaction) untuk mengisi kesenjangan penelitian. Penelitian ini menguji pengaruh mediasi dari pemberdayaan interaksi berbasis pengetahuan, kapabilitas penyerapan dan inovasi organisasi dalam hubungan kepemimpinan transformasional digital dengan kinerja organisasi. Sampel penelitian dengan purposive sampling terdapat 258 perusahaan digital startup berbadan hukum perseroan terbatas di Indonesia, yang didirikan dalam 3 tahun ini, masih beroperasi, mendapat atau belum mendapat dana investor dan terdaftar pada Badan Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif. Pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner daring dan diperoleh 144 perusahaan digital startup yang valid. Analisis data dengan Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) menggunakan perangkat pengolah data SmartPLS. Hasil penelitian mendukung sebagian model yang diusulkan, perusahaan digital startup yang melakukan pemberdayaan interaksi berbasis pengetahuan berpotensi meningkatkan inovasi dan kinerja organisasi. Pengaruh langsung kepemimpinan transformasional digital terhadap kinerja organisasi yang memiliki dimensi keuntungan dan pendapatan adalah negatif. Temuan mengkonfirmasi mediasi pemberdayaan interaksi berbasis pengetahuan, kapabilitas penyerapan dan inovasi organisasi dalam hubungan kepemimpinan transformasional digital dengan kinerja organisasi.
