Abstract

Kegiatan pembelajaran Sosiologi idealnya dapat berjalan dengan baik ketika didukung siswa yang mampu meresponi pembelajaran dengan aktif. Namun sayangnya sebagian besar siswa kelas XI IPS belum menunjukkan keaktifan dalam mengikuti kegiatan pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran tersebut. Melihat situasi tersebut, peneliti perlu mengadakan suatu penelitian untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas XI IPS. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bahwa metode diskusi kelompok dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa. Selain itu juga untuk mengetahui cara penggunaan metode diskusi kelompok pada siswa kelas XI IPS sehingga dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar pada mata pelajaran Sosiologi. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPS di salah satu SMAK di kota Makassar. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi checklist, rubrik penilaian diri siswa, dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan, disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode diskusi kelompok dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas XI IPS pada mata pelajaran Sosiologi. Selain itu penerapan setiap langkah metode diskusi kelompok perlu dilakukan secara maksimal sehingga dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas XI IPS dalam hal memperhatikan, bertanya, menjawab, dan berpendapat pada mata pelajaran Sosiologi. / Learning activity on Sociology subject ideally should have done well when students could respond learning activity with their activeness. But unfortunately, most of the eleven graders had not yet showed their active learning in following the learning activities. In dealing with this situation, specific research was necessary to be conducted to increase the active learning of the eleven graders on the Sociology subjectThis research was aimed to identify if the Group Discussion Method could increase the active learning of the students. Besides, this was also to identify the proper implementation Group Discussion Method to the eleven graders so that it could increase the students’ active learning on Sociology subject. The methodology being used was a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research subjects were the eleven graders at one of private Christian school in Makassar. The instruments being used were observation checklist sheet, student self assessment rubric, and reflective journals of the researcher. Based on the result of the research, it was found out that the implementation of Group Discussion Method improved the active learning of the eleven graders on the Sociology Subject. Besides, the proper implementation of group discussion method maximally could improve the active learning of the eleven graders in giving attention, questioning, answering, and giving opinion on the Sociology subject.
