Abstract

Beberapa tahun belakang ini perkembangan majalah di Indonesia semakin pesat,terutama majalah untuk wanita dan remaja. Masyarakat kini semakin sadar akan kebutuhannya terhadap informasi, sehingga mendorong perkembangan industri media massa, karena itu peneliti merasa adanya keperluan akan penelitian ini, untuk mengetahui kegunaan dan gratifikasi masyarakat terhadap media massa tertentu. Di tengah perkembangan media cetak, majalah Gogirl hadir di tahun 2005 dengan ukuran yang lebih praktis, serta menampilkan model luar negeri pada sampulnya, dan berhasil menarik hati pada remaja putri. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mencari kegunaan dan gratifikasi majalah Gogirl terhadap 6 orang pembacanya dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus. Pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam terhadap 6 orang pembaca sekaligus pelanggan majalah Gogirl, yang dipilih dengan metode purposive sampling. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat diketahui lebih dalam bahwa konten majalah Gogirl yang berbobot menjadi alasan mengapa para informan memilih majalah ini dibandingkan majalah remaja lainnya. Selain itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegunaan dan gratifikasi majalah Gogirl yang didapat dari 6 orang informan ini berupa wawasan tentang isu sosial dan perkembangan dunia, informasi berita terkini, hiburan, dan motivasi positif dari kontennya yang disajikan. / A few years back the development of the magazine in Indonesia grew rapidly, especially for women and youth magazines. Society is increasingly aware of the need for the information, thus encouraging the development of the mass media industry, because it was felt that there was need for the researcher of this study, to determine the usability and gratification society against certain media. In the midst of the development of the print media, Gogirl magazine came in 2005 with a more handy size, as well as featuring international models on the cover, and successfully engaging in adolescent girls. This study was conducted to look for uses and gratifications Gogirl magazine against 6 readers with a qualitative approach. This research uses the case study method. Data collection was done by depth interviews with six readers-subscribers, selected purposively. Results of this study demonstrated that there reasons that uses and gratifications of 6 informants is obtained from the insight, information, entertainment, and motivation of the readers-subscribers of the presented content. Moreover, it can be concluded that the Gogirl magazine’s contents are weighted than other teen magazines.
