Abstract

Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan di kelas VII di sekolah Kristen di Toraja, Sulawesi Selatan, peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa kurang aktif dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Peneliti memutuskan menggunakan metode NHT sebagai solusi dari permasalahan ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas VII melalui penerapan metode NHT, serta peneliti ingin mengetahui cara penerapan metode NHT dalam meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa kelas VII. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model spiral dari Kemmis dan Taggart. Penelitian dilakukan pada 12 sampai 22 Oktober 2014 pada 30 siswa selama dua siklus. Peneliti menggunakan instrumen pengumpulan data berupa lembar observasi dan kuesioner siswa yang akan dianalisis dengan menggunakan perhitungan statistik sederhana, serta wawancara guru mentor dan siswa yang akan dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa penerapan metode NHT dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa selama pembelajaran. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh tercapainya seluruh indikator keaktifan belajar siswa, yakni siswa menjawab pertanyaan dengan tepat, siswa mencari informasi pemecahan masalah dengan bertanya, siswa menjawab pertanyaan, siswa memberikan tanggapan dan siswa mencatat inti materi. Keaktifan belajar siswa dapat meningkat dengan cara melaksanakan empat fase pelaksanaan NHT yaitu : fase preparation, fase numbering, fase questioning &heads together, dan fase answering. / Based on the observation made in Grade VII at a Christian school in Toraja, South Sulawesi, researcher found that students are less involve in learning. The researcher decided to use NHT method as a solution of this problem. This research aims to enhance Grade VII students’ learninginvolvement through the application of NHT method, and researcher wants to know how to apply NHT method to improve Grade VII students’ learning involve. The methodology used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR), spiral model from Kemmis and Taggart. The study was conducted in two cycles from 12 to 22 October 2014 with 30 students as reseach’s subject. The researcher used data collectioninstruments in the form of observation and student questionnaires that will be analyzed using simple statistic calculation. Interviews with mentor teacher and student will be analyzed by descriptive qualitative method. The study results show that the application of NHT method could enhance students’ learning involve. It wasshown by the achievement of all the indicators ofstudents’ learninginvolve, such as answering the question correctly, looking for the information to solve the problem by asking, giving feedback and taking notesabout the material. Students’ learning activeness could be increased by implementing the four phases of NHT implementation, as known as: preparation phase, numbering phase, the phase of questioning and heads together, and the answering phase.
