Abstract

Sebuah film memiliki makna yang disampaikan kepada audiensnya secara verbal maupun nonverbal. Adegan-adegan yang diperlihatkan, memunculkan sebuah representasi yang memiliki makna. Film bertemakan kecurangan dalam dunia pendidikan, menjadi tema yang akan diteliti dalam penelitian ini. Film Bad Genius, merupakan film garapan Thailand yang diproduksi pada Mei 2017. Film ini menceritakan tentang sekelompok siswa yang melakukan perencanaan kecurangan dalam bidang akademik, hingga ke tingkat internasional. Penelitian ini meneliti adegan-adegan yang merepresentasikan kecurangan yang dilakukan oleh siswa sekolah menengah ke atas. Metodologi penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik analisis teori semiotika Roland Barthes. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan beberapa penggambaran dalam film yang didasarkan dengan pendekatan representasi reflektif, yaitu menggambarkan kecurangan akademik yang merupakan realitas sosial di dalam dunia pendidikan. / A film has meaning that is conveyed to its audience verbally or nonverbally. The scenes shown give rise to a meaningful representation. A film with the theme of cheating in the world of education is a theme that will be examined in this study. The film Bad Genius, is a Thai film produced in May 2017. This film tells the story of a group of students who are planning to cheat in the academic field, to the international level. This study represents scenes that represent cheating by high school students. The methodology of this research is qualitative using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory analysis technique. These results found several depictions in the film based on a reflective representation approach, describes academic cheating which is a social reality in the world of education.
