Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat keterbukaan remaja melalui media sosial Twitter di kalangan remaja SMA Negeri 5 Tangerang Selatan dan untuk mengetahui pada dimensi apa saja yang dapat membentuk keterbukaan diri remaja. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan sampel Kelas X dan XI sebanyak 81 orang secara acak. Teknik analisis data menggunakan Chi square. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dimensi keterbukaan diri yang dikemukakan oleh Joseph A. DeVito. Dari hasil penyajian data terhadap keterbukaan diri remaja menunjukkan bahwa dimensi ukuran memiliki nilai persepsi 348. Pada dimensi valensi nilai persepsinya 318. Dimensi kecermatan dan kejujuran sebesar 293 dan dimensi maksud dan tujuan sebesar 332. Dimensi keakraban memiliki nilai sebesar 309. Hasil pengolahan uji Chi square memperlihatkan bahwa pada jenis kelamin siswa, dimensi waktu dan kecermatan dan kejujuran merupakan dua dimensi yang membentuk keterbukaan diri. Sedangkan pada faktor usia siswa, keterbukaan diri lebih terbentuk pada dimesi valensi. Faktor kelas dan memiliki koneksi Internet di rumah keduanya tidak memiliki pengaruh. Siswa yang memiliki perangkat teknologi untuk mengakses Internet berpengaruh pada dimensi waktu, kecermatan dan kejujuran. Faktor memiliki akun media sosial di Internet tidak berpengaruh. Siswa memiliki akun Twitter aktif lebih terbuka pada dimensi kecermatan dan kejujuran serta maksud dan tujuan. Dengan demikian keterbukaan diri pada siswa akan berbeda pada faktor pembeda pada masing-masing dimensi siswa. / The objectives of this research are to discover teenagers’ level of selfdisclosure through the social media Twitter among the students of SMA Negeri 5 Tangerang Selatan and to ascertain the dimensions in which teenage selfdisclosure are formed. The research method was quantitative where the samples are 81 randomly chosen tenth and eleventh grade students. Chi square method was used in analyzing the data. The research was using dimension of self disclosure theory by Joseph A. De Vito. The resulting data towards teenager self disclosure showed a perception value of 348 in size dimension. A perception value of 318 was obtained for valence dimension. Accuracy and honesty dimension had a value of 293 and Intent and purpose dimension resulted in a perception value of 332. The familiarity dimension had a perception value of 309. The results from Chi square test indicated that from gender factor, students show that time and accuracy are the two dimensions that create self-disclosure, while the age of students shows that self-disclosure is created more in valence dimension. Neither the factor of class nor home internet connection availability is able to be made into a perimeter on the formation of self-disclosure in students. Students with technological devices for accessing Internet display more self disclosure in time, accuracy and honesty, also intent and purpose dimensions. Having social media accounts cannot be used as perimeter on the formation of self-disclosure in students. Students with active Twitter account are more open in accuracy and honesty and also intent and purpose dimensions. Thus, students’ self-disclosure will vary in differentiating factor in each student’s dimension.
