Abstract

In Asia, lack of awareness and concern towards environmental sustainability has been a major challenge for leaders and policy makers to adjust with the current global needs of economic growths. The region’s high demands for inefficient appliances and equipment causes environmental degradation and depleting foreign exchange reserves that have been used to finance power plant construction. The exacerbating demands for inefficient appliances need a way of either reforming the whole system (holistic approach) or maintaining the existing system with new programs (structural). This internship report uses explanative-qualitative method to explain about internship programs conducted by the writer. This report discusses the implementation of BRESL project in the regional scope and towards Indonesia’s current activity in particular. This report will address the type of barriers existed in the process implementing Energy Standard and Labeling (ES&L) programs in Indonesia. This paper will also addresses the importance on using the right and effective programs or mechanism and policy to reduce greenhouse gas. Therefore, the promotion of energy efficient product becomes one effective alternate to overcome environmental issues such as; global warming and climate change. Energy standard and labelling (ES&L) program are adaptable to changes in the economy, political stability, and therefore indeed maintaining the existing system, whilst giving alternatives approach of energy efficiency programs that is costeffective. / Di Asia, kurangnya kesadaran dan kepedulian terhadap kelestarian lingkungan telah menjadi tantangan besar bagi para pemimpin dan pembuat kebijakan untuk menyesuaikan kebutuhan global saat ini akanpertumbuhan ekonomi. Jumlah permintaan yang tinggi di kawasan Asiaterhadap peralatan yang tidak efisien,menyebabkan degradasi lingkungan dan berkurangnya cadangan mata uang asing yang telah digunakan untuk membiayai pembangunan pembangkit listrik.Jumlah permintaan yang semakin meluas untuk peralatan yang tidak efisien memerlukancara-cara antara lain; mereformasi seluruh sistem (pendekatan holistik) atau mempertahankan sistem yang ada dengan menciptakan program baru yang lebih sesuai (struktural). Laporan magang ini menggunakan metode eksplanatif-kualitatif untuk menjelaskan program magang yang telah dilakukan oleh penulis.Laporan ini membahas mengenai pelaksanaan proyek BRESL dalam ruang lingkup regional dan terhadap aktivitas proyek tersebut pada saat ini, khususnya di Indonesia. Laporan ini akan membahas berbagai jenis hambatan yang ada di dalam proses pelaksanaan program Standarisasi Energi dan Labeliasi (ES&L) di Indonesia. Laporan juga akanmembahas pentingnya menggunakan program atau mekanisme dan kebijakan yang tepat dan efektif untuk mengurangi gas rumah kaca. Oleh karena itu, promosi produk hemat energi menjadi salah satu alternatif yang efektif untuk mengatasi permasalahan lingkungan seperti; pemanasan global dan perubahan iklim.Program Energi Standar dan Labelisasi (ES&L) mampu beradaptasi terhadap perubahan perekonomian, stabilitas politik, dan juga pemeliharaan sistem yang sudah ada, sehingga memberikan pendekatan alternatif terhadap program efisiensi energi yang efektif dalam pendanaan.
