Abstract

Teknologi lebih dari sekedar sebuah metode, melainkan sebuah dunia di dalam dirinya sendiri. Sebagai sebuah metode, teknologi sangat superior di hampir semua respek. Tetapi ketika hanya menjadi dirinya sendiri, sebagai sebuah struktur besar dari mesin, maka teknologi menjelma menjadi sebuah sifat dasar yang nyata. Sewaktu-waktu ketika teknologi mencapai penyelesaian yang sebenarnya, ia menjelma menjadi arsitektur. Benar bahwa arsitektur tergantung pada kenyataan, tetapi pemenuhan akan aktifitas terdapat dalam batas-batas yang berarti. Pengaruh desain konstruksi berupa teknologi sangat kuat sebagai desain yang akan mewujudkan karya arsitektur. Teknologi merupakan saksi dari perkembangan arsitektur, tidak hanya zaman moderen tetapi juga sejak peradaban arsitektur tertua yaitu Mesir. Teknologi yang selalu berkembang, mempunyai nilai lebih dari hanya sekedar teknologi yang akan merealisasikan suatu desain arsitektur. Nilai teknologi jauh melebihi itu. Teknologi sesuai yang ditegaskan Mies van der Rohe, mempunyai dunianya sendiri, dalam kondisi-kondisi tertentu ketika teknologi (struktur) sudah memenuhi persyaratan arsitektur maka teknologi akan membentuk suatu arsitektur baru yang disebabkan karena kebutuhan akan struktur yang dipengaruhi faktor-faktor tertentu sehingga membentuk suatu bangunan. Kekuatan dari nilai teknologi (struktur) akan memberikan suatu identitas tersendiri bagi desain arsitektur. Dari penjabaran hubungan antara desain struktural dan bentuk arsitektur, dapat disimpulkan bahwa elemen-elemen struktural dan non struktural pada sebuah desain konstruksi dapat dikombinasikan menjadi suatu bentuk arsitektur, baik bentuk murni dibentuk oleh elemen struktural yang berfungsi sebagai pemikul beban maupun yang hanya berfungsi sebagai elemen penutup semata demi dicapainya bentuk yang diinginkan. / Technology is far more than a method, it is a world in itself. As a method it is superior in almost every respect. But only where it is left to it self, as in gigantic structures of engineering, there technology reveals its true nature. Whenever technology reaches its real fulfilment, it transcends into architecture. It is true that architecture depends on fact, but its real field of activity is in the realm of significance. The effects of structure design in the form of technology very strong as a design that makes architecture become real. Technology is a witness from architecture development, not only in modern epoch but the oldest civilization like Mesir. Technology of structure always bloom, has more values not only to bring about an architecture design. The values more than that. As Mies van der Rohe said, it has its own world. In the certain conditions when structure has completed architecture requirement, structure will form a new architecture because a need of structure that was influenced by special factors until become a building. The power of structure will give an own identity to architecture design. In conection between structural design and architecture form, the conclusion is the structural and the non structural alements in a structure design can be combinated become a new architecture form, as a pure form that form from structural elements as a load carried. Altough it just as a cover element to make a form that we want.
