Abstract
Content Management System (CMS) is a web-based application that allows user to manage website content without the need to have HTML knowledge. A CMS theme is used to provide layout to a website. This research aims to determine the possibility of cross-platform usage of CMS theme and to create a CMS theme conversion application. Two CMS; Joomla and WordPress, their default themes; Protostar and Twenty Sixteen, and a Joomla theme; Creative were chosen as the subjects of research. Creative theme was then converted to a WordPress version. The theme conversion is described into five steps, 1) Examine Protostar and Twenty Sixteen and their relation to CMS 2) Identify themes’ structure 3) Describe themes’ structure. 4) Compare supporting features of each theme. 5) Convert Creative theme Creative theme conversion is done according to the existing Creative layout and WordPress template hierarchy. Creative theme is successfully converted since every CMS theme has the same essence that includes index, header, and footer files respectively and a stylesheet made according to the theme. There is a caveat found during research, that Joomla and WordPress have different structures where one uses MVC and the other uses template hierarchy, then theme conversion is done manually using element inspection. Thus, the conversion is only to be done on Joomla theme to WordPress.
