Abstract

The popularity of TikTok as an application that allows its users to upload their personal content has led many users to use the application to spread creative content to the general public. One of the content that is currently popular is dancing content. This phenomenon causes many users in Indonesia to become interested in doing the same thing. The popularity of the TikTok application has even formed a phenomenon of TikTok-style dancing culture for millennials in Indonesia. This incident is a question for researchers how this application is very popular in Indonesia so that it can form its own phenomenon in society. This TikTok-style dance culture is a unique phenomenon among millennials in Indonesia because many people upload dance videos even though their profession is not a dancer or a dance fan. To build a culture of dancing, media is needed in its dissemination so that people can actively participate in creating a culture and provide a depiction to the community of that culture. The TikTok application is a form of new media with a social media platform that allows the dissemination of information quickly. Furthermore, according to Hui Zuo and Tongyue Wang in their research entitled "Analysis of TikTok User behavior from the Perspective of Pupular Culture", they specifically mention that the TikTok application can form unique phenomena (Zuo & Wang, 2019). This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological research methods. Data collection was carried out with primary data in the form of interviews with TikTok application users who uploaded dancing content. The secondary data is in the form of literature to see the influence of TikTok-style dance culture in Indonesia. The theory that researchers use as a basis in research is about Albert Bandura's Social Learning Theory. The results of the study indicate that the phenomenon of the culture of dancing in the TikTok application for millennials in Indonesia can be formed due to several factors, namely (1) Expectations; (2) Observation; (3) Behavior; (4) Self Efficacy; (5) Reciprocal Determinism; (6) Reinforcement.
