Abstract

Transportation is a basic part of growth economic, social, and cultural infrastructure, which affects the connection efficiency of all other business activities in some communities from one district to the other districts. The Indonesian islands with many potencial there, they will be needs a suitable transportation facilities to support all of their variety business or activities. Air transportation services with their aircrafs, it is one of alternative way to transport people or baggage with the high time effeciency than using the other vehicles to traveling the islands which is the topography its separated by mountains. Every each airport with their system of flight passenger process, Its need to reperceive by increasing secure system and convenience for passenger service to provide a safety and quick flight operations. One of them is Sepinggan Airport in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. Extension terminal passenger of Sepinggan airport - Balikpapan as the final project topic, will be perform with a more modern visualization, but in the design it is still describe the locally architecture perception to explain some traditional characteristic. The movement of people and baggage is the important issues of terminal airport design. With a whole systematic flight passenger process in the terminal, its need a reliable flow orientation. / Transportasi merupakan bagian yang penting bagi perkembangan infrastruktur ekonomi, sosial, dan budaya karena memberikan banyak kemudahan bagi hubungan dan aktivitas suatu masyarakat didalam memenuhi berbagai kebutuhan dari satu daerah ke daerah yang lain. Indonesia dengan segala potensi aktivitas dan bisnisnya akan sangat membutuhkan sarana transportasi yang mendukung hal tersebut. Transportasi udara dengan pesawatnya merupakan salah satu pilihan pengangkutan penumpang atau barang yang paling efesien waktu dibandingkan dengan menggunakan kendaraan lain, melihat keadaan topografi kepulauan Indonesia yang datarannya didominasi oleh pegunungan. Sistem operasional penerbangan pada tiap bandaranya di Indonesia membutuhkan peninjauan ulang yang dimaksudkan untuk meningkatkan pelayanan konsumen akan keamanan dan kenyamanan demi keselamatan dan kelancaran keseluruhan operasional penerbangan. Salah satunya yaitu Bandara Sepinggan yang berada di kota Balikpapan, Kalimantan Timur. Ekstensi Terminal Penumpang Bandara Sepinggan yang dipilih sebagai topik Proyek Akhir ini, dirancang dengan tampilan yang lebih moderen, dengan tetap mengangkat persepsi bangunan tradisionalnya sebagai ciri daerah setempat. Sirkulasi pergerakan merupakan permasalahan utama dalam perancangan terminal bandara. Dengan adanya keseluruhan proses penerbangan penumpang yang sistematik di dalam terminal, maka dibutuhkan perencanaan dan perancangan terminal dengan pengarahan sirkulasi yang jelas.
