Abstract

Hotel Borneo Emerald Hotel adalah hotel yang masih dalam tahap pembangunan dan mencari aplikasi komputer untuk mendukung kegiatan pada proses reservasi mereka. Aplikasi ini dibangun untuk mengatasi keterbatasan dari sistem manual yang banyak digunakan oleh hotel-hotel serupa. Keterbatasanketerbatasan pada sistem-sistem tersebut yaitu dalam hal dokumentasi yang masih menggunakan kertas dan pencatatan manual, juga pada kesulitan menemukan data yang dibutuhkan dan tingginya peluang terjadinya kerusakan dan kehilangan data yang dimiliki. Aplikasi yang diusulkan bertujuan untuk mempermudah dan menghemat waktu proses reservasi dan membantu dokumentasi pada proses refill minibar, peminjaman peralatan kamar, pemesanan makanan, dan laundry. Aplikasi ini dikembangkan dengan menggunakan metode prototyping, dimulai dengan menganalisi masalah sistem yang umum digunakan, mengumpulkan kebutuhan pengguna (menggunakan wawancara, analisis dokumen dan observasi-observasi), dan memodelkan sistem menggunakan UML 2.0, kemudian diikuti dengan merancang struktur database, interfaces, dan diakhiri dengan pembangunan sistem menggunakan Visual Basic 2010 dan SQL Server 2008. Pengujian aplikasi ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pengujian skenario. Aplikasi ini memfasilitasi semua hal yang dibutuhkan pengguna saat ini dengan membantu pada proses reservasi dan dokumentasi yang lebih baik. Aplikasi ini juga dapat membantu pengguna mengelola reservasi yang ada, membuat laporan reservasi, laporan pembatalan kamar, laporan okupansi jenis kamar, mendokumentasikan data laundry, refill minibar, pemesanan makanan, dan peminjaman peralatan kamar. Aplikasi ini dapat mengurangi kesulitankesulitan yang dihadapi oleh karyawan hotel. / Borneo Emerald Hotel is still under construction and requires computer applications to support their reservation process. This application is built to overcome the limitations of the manual systems that are widely used by similar hotels. The limitations in such systems include the documentation that still use paper and manual recording data as well as finding the required data and the high chances of damage and loss of data. The proposed application aims to simplify and reduce the reservation time and help documentation in refilling minibar, borrowing rooms’ equipments, ordering food, and laundry. This application is developed by using the prototyping methodology, begins with the analyzing the commonly used hotel reservation systems, gathering user requirements (using interviews, document analysis and observations), and modeling the system using UML 2.0, followed by designing the database structure, interfaces, and ending with the construction of the application using Visual Basic 2010 and SQL Server 2008. Application testing is performed using scenario testing. This application facilitates all of users’ current needs by assisting them in the reservation process and provides better documentation. This application also can help user manage the existing reservation, generate a reservation report, cancellation room report, room type occupancy report, document the laundry data, minibar refill, ordering food, and lending room equipments.
