Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has caused major disruption in education sector. Shifting the learning process to online platform is considered to be the most favorable distance learning option. This research was motivated by passive students’ engagement, low self-efficacy and low concept mastery in Grade 10 Mathematics subject during the class conducted through video conferencing in an online platform. The purpose of this study is to enhance students’ engagement, self-efficacy and concept mastery in Mathematics class through the implementation of Flipped Classroom Model during the pandemic time. This Classroom Action Research implemented Flipped Classroom Model in three learning cycles. The subjects of this study were five Grade 10 students at Quiver Center Academy. The data were collected through observations, survey, and test questions. Based on the analysis of the collected data from the first cycle until the third cycle, the results show 29% increase in students’ engagement, 55% increase in academic self-efficacy, and 16% increase in concept mastery. In conclusion, Flipped Classroom Model has successfully improved Quiver Center Academy Grade 10 students’ engagement, self-efficacy and concept mastery in Mathematics subject during the pandemic period. / Pandemi COVID-19 telah menyebabkan gangguan besar di sektor pendidikan. Mengalihkan proses pembelajaran ke platform online dianggap sebagai pilihan pembelajaran jarak jauh yang paling ideal. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh menurunnya tingkat keterlibatan siswa, rendahnya efikasi-diri, dan menurunnya penguasaan konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran Matematika Kelas 10 selama kelas sementara dilakukan melalui video conference dalam platform online. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memfasilitasi siswa untuk dapat mengalami peningkatan dalam keterlibatan siswa, efikasi-diri, dan penguasaan konsep pada pelajaran Matematika melalui penerapan Flipped Classroom Model pada saat pandemi. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini menerapkan Flipped Classroom Model selama tiga siklus pembelajaran. Subjek penelitian ini adalah lima siswa kelas 10 di Quiver Center Academy. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, survei, dan soal tes. Berdasarkan analisis data yang terkumpul dari siklus I sampai siklus III diperoleh hasil keterlibatan siswa meningkat sebesar 29%, efikasi-diri meningkat sebesar 55%, dan penguasaan konsep meningkat sebesar 16%. Flipped Classroom Model telah berhasil meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa, efikasi-diri, dan penguasaan konsep siswa kelas 10 Quiver Center Academy dalam kelas online pelajaran Matematika di masa pandemi.
