Abstract

Huruf Braille adalah sejenis sistem tulisan yang digunakan oleh penderita tuna netra untuk dapat berkomunikasi. Menurut beberapa penelitian di beberapa universitas, penderita tuna netra berkomunikasi dan menyatakan pemikiran mereka melalui musik dan juga tulisan. Untuk dapat mengerti apa yang diutarakan oleh penderita tuna netra, maka diperlukan suatu aplikasi yang dapat membantu para psikolog, dokter, maupun pekerja sosial untuk memahami teks Braille tersebut. Penelitian ini membuat algoritma yang dapat membentuk aplikasi pembacaan teks Braille dengan menggunakan citra yang diambil dengan menggunakan sebuah kamera sebagai masukan. Citra yang didapat akan diolah dengan menggunakan metode deteksi tepi dan juga thresholding. Metode deteksi tepi digunakan untuk menghasilkan titik-titik yang lebih jelas dan metode thresholding berfungsi untuk mengidentifikasi titik-titik yang ada. Setelah citra selesai diolah, maka hasilnya kemudian ditampilkan dalam bentuk teks alfanumerik. Tugas akhir ini membahas mengenai algoritma pengenalan pola teks Braille dengan mendeteksi posisi setiap titik pada teks. Titik-titik yang ada akan dideteksi dengan menggunakan beberapa data seperti jarak kolom, jarak baris dan juga jarak huruf. Setelah memperoleh semua data yang diperlukan, maka posisi setiap titik akan didapatkan dan pola teks Braille akan lebih mudah untuk dikenali. / Braille is a writing system used by blind patients in order to communicate. According to some studies, at some universities blind patients communicate their thinking and expressed through music and writings. In order to understand what is mentioned by the blind, then required an application that can help psychologists, doctor, and social workers to understand the text is braille. This research is made an algorithm that could form a recitation text braille using images taken by using a camera for inputs. The information processed by using methods to detect and also thresholding edge. The detection of the method used to produce specks clearer and methods thresholding working to identify the existing. Having finished it, the image and it is then shown in the form of text alphanumeric. This thesis discusses the Braille pattern recognition algorithm of text by detecting the position of any point in the text. The existing points will be detected using several data such as column spacing, line spacing and letters spacing. After obtaining all the necessary data, then the position of each point will be obtained and the Braille text patterns would be easier to identify.
