Abstract

Beberapa tahun belakang persentase individu di Indonesia yang mengalami penyakit ginjal semakin meningkat. Penelitian yang telah dilakukan mengemukakan bahwa kepuasan hidup mereka rendah. Beberapa penyebabnya adalah kondisi fisik melemah, persepsi akan hidup yang bergantung pada pengobatan, dan dampak dari hemodialisis seperti sering merasakan emosi negatif, perubahan emosi, hingga gejala depresi. Dalam mencapai kepuasan hidup individu dipengaruhi oleh hedonic level of affect yakni berbagai emosi yang dirasakan setiap hari. Oleh karena individu dengan penyakit ginjal mengalami berbagai perubahan emosi terutama emosi negatif yang mengganggu individu, maka dibutuhkan strategi regulasi emosi untuk mengatasi hal tersebut yakni cognitive reappraisal dan expressive suppression. Dengan demikian penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara penggunaan strategi regulasi emosi dengan kepuasan hidup pada pasien penderita sakit ginjal. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 80 partisipan berusia 40-65 tahun yang mengalami penyakit ginjal. Desain penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan alat ukur Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) dan Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan signifikan antara regulasi emosi dengan kepuasan hidup pada pasien penderita sakit ginjal. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pasien penyakit ginjal yang menggunakan regulasi emosi cognitive reappraisal akan memiliki kepuasan hidup lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan yang menggunakan expressive suppression. / In recent years, percentage of individuals with kidney disease in Indonesia has increased. Research that has been done suggests that their life satisfaction is low. Some of the causes are weakened physical conditions, perceptions of life that depend on treatment, and impact of hemodialysis such as frequent feeling of negative emotions, changes in emotions, to symptoms of depression. In achieving life satisfaction individuals are influenced by affect that is a variety of emotions that are felt every day. Because they experience various changes in emotions, especially negative emotions that disturb the individual, it takes an emotional regulation strategy to overcome this, namely cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression. Thus, this study aims to look at the relationship between emotional regulation and life satisfaction in patients with kidney disease. This study was conducted on 80 participants aged 40-65 years, using quantitative design with measuring instruments Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) and Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS). Results showed there is a significant relationship between emotional regulation and life satisfaction in patients with kidney disease. So it can be concluded that kidney disease patients who use cognitive reappraisal will have a high satisfaction of life compared to those who use expressive suppression.
