Abstract

The location of Indonesia holds the country to be within a wet tropical climate. Therefore the use of the weather can be a considerable option in constructing a building, particularly when building a house. Furthermore, global warming has been an issue that has been problematical for quite some time. Thus, mankind needs to find a solution to reserve energy in order to prevent global warming. One of the strategies that can be implemented in architecture is the concept of using minimum energy. The two main focus of this concept is minimizing energy that is used in a house that focused in two areas; lighting and airconditioning. Whereas these two areas have proved to produce the most carbon dioxide emission. The strategy of minimizing energy will be based on the use of passive strategy. In this reasearch, the method that is used are the study of literature and experimental study. This reasearch is based on analizing materials that are found in literature. In this reasearch, there are two houses that are observed and analyzed that are using the natural lighting and natural circulation strategy. After analizing, the concepts will be test using EchoTech to create the most energy sufcient strategy. It is assumed that natural circulation is the most effective strategy on dealing with minimizing energy use.
