Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi saat ini sangat memudahkan manusia dalam berkomunikasi dan bersosialiasi, yaitu dengan hadirnya media sosial. TikTok yang merupakan sebuah aplikasi dimana penggunanya dapat membuat video berdurasi 15-60 detik dan mengunggahnya ke pengguna lainnya. Penggunanya juga dapat melakukan presentasi diri dan membangun image nya di TikTok dengan mengunggah video pendek di aplikasi tersebut. Dengan tujuan dan proses yang berbeda-beda dilakukan pengguna TikTok untuk mempresentasikan dirinya dan menjadi viral di TikTok. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengguna aplikasi TikTok dalam melakukan presentasi diri pada unggahan yang viral di dunia maya. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif serta metode penelitian deskriptif. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melakukan in-depth interview bersama 3 informan yang merupakan seorang public figure di aplikasi media sosial TikTok. Kemudian hasil dari penelitian peneliti analisis menggunakan teori interaksi simbolik dan new media beserta konsep lainnya seperti konsep diri, presentasi diri. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 2 tujuan pengguna melakukan presentasi diri di TikTok. Pertama adalah audience pleasing dan yang kedua adalah self construction. Serta terdapat persiapan-persiapan yang dilakukan oleh pengguna sebelum mengunggah konten ke publik. / The development of technology today makes it very easy for humans to communicate and socialize, namely by the presence of social media. TikTok which is an application where users can create videos that are 15-60 seconds long and upload them to other users. Users can also present themselves and build their image on TikTok by uploading short videos to the application. With different goals and processes, TikTok users are doing to present themselves and go viral on TikTok. Thus, this study aims to find out how TikTok application users make selfpresentations on viral uploads in cyberspace. In this study, researchers used a qualitative research approach and descriptive research methods. Data collection in this study was carried out by conducting in-depth interviews with 3 informants who are public figures on the TikTok social media application. Then the results of the research the analysis researchers used were symbolic interaction theory and new media along with other concepts such as self-concept, self-presentation. The results of the study indicate that there are 2 purposes for users to present themselves on TikTok. First is audience pleasing and the second is self construction. And there are preparations made by users before uploading content to the public.
