Abstract

In the resort hotel planning, passive design becomes important. Hotel is one of the largest users of electrical energy. Components purchase electric energy reaches 30 % of the total operating costs of the hotel. From the analysis of some hotel resort in Bali, there are still many hotel resort has not fully maximizing the advantages of the location of the resort is located ( their context ). Hotels are just simply utilizing the scenery as the feature and using the active design of air conditioner. Hotels still rarely using nature as they features that exist. Actually if the design combine with the nature that can be obtained from the location or site of the climate around (passive design will gives many positives such as energy savings) and minimizing nature from catastrophe. This hotel that located in the resort area of Gianyar, Bali has an attractive natural scenery as it is located by the rice fields and beaches, on the other hand the area still is a natural ecosystems which must be preserved in the guard. An increase in temperature of thermal can not only reduced by the efforts of an efficient energy use, but there has to be another effort in favor of the use of natural resources as a whole by keeping the sustainability of natural resources. Understanding of nature by using the passive design approach is expected to keep the balance with nature and keep harmony with the nature.
