Abstract

The development of self-confidence or positive self-image in children aged 4 - 5 years is very important for their happiness and success in the future. Since self-confidence is not talent (innate), but it refers to mental qualities, it is generated from the process of attainment of education or empowerment. Therefore, self-confidence can be trained and socialized. Through this paper the authors try to propose a design of measurement and evaluation of children self-confidence, to make observations and to analyze the instruments by using statistics. The instrument consists of four indicators. They are comunication ability, dare to receive task, individual independence, and able to express individual emotion. The results of these observations obtained a new instrument which is valid and reliable with its Cronbach Alpha of 0.89, 0.84, 0.85 and 0.91 respectively.
