Abstract

Dalam konteks usia emerging adulthood, individu yang sedang mengemban pendidikan di perguruan tinggi disebut sebagai mahasiswa. Untuk mencapai keberhasilan dalam mencapai prestasi yang baik, motivasi berperan penting. Motivasi berprestasi dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, salah satunya adalah keterlibatan orang tua. Salah satu penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan ayah memberikan dampak yang positif terhadap prestasi akademik. Individu dengan urutan kelahiran pertama dinyatakan cenderung memiliki motivasi berprestasi yang lebih tinggi daripada urutan kelahiran selanjutnya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah terdapat hubungan antara keterlibatan ayah dengan motivasi berprestasi pada mahasiswa dengan urutan kelahiran pertama. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dan dilakukan pada 144 partisipan dengan karakteristik individu usia 18-25 tahun, urutan kelahiran pertama, memiliki ayah (belum meninggal), dan mahasiswa yang berkuliah di perguruan tinggi di wilayah Jabodetabek. Alat ukur yang dipakai adalah Skala Keterlibatan Ayah (SKA) dan Achievement Motives Scale-Revised (AMS-R). Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara keterlibatan ayah dengan motivasi berprestasi hope of success pada mahasiswa dengan urutan kelahiran pertama (rs= .262, p= .001; p< .01, dan tidak terdapat hubungan antara keterlibatan ayah dengan motivasi berprestasi fear of failure pada mahasiswa dengan urutan kelahiran pertama (rs= -.034, p= .682; p> .01). Adapun hasil analisis lainnya juga dituliskan dalam bagian diskusi dari penelitian ini. / In context of emerging adulthood age, individual that studying in university called as a college student. For reaching success in reaching of good achievement, motivation takes big part. Motivation for achievement influenced by some factors, one of them is parental involvement. One of the research shows that father’s involvement has positive influence to academic achievement. Individuals that born as a first child stated that considered have a higher motivation than the next birth sequence. Above that, this research has a point to see is there any influence between dad’s involvement and motivation to reach achievement on the first child. This research used quantitative research methods and been done to 144 participants with age range from 18 to 25 years old, first child, have a father (haven’t passed away), and students in university that located in Jabodetabek. The measuring tool that used for this research is Scale of Father's Involvement (SKA) and Achievement Motivates Scale-Revised (AMS-R). The result of this research is stated that there is a connection between father's involvement and motivation to reach achievement (hope of success) on the first child (rs= .262, p=.001; p< .01, and there is no connection between dad’s involvement and motivation to reach achievement (fear of failure) on the first child (rs= -.034, p= .682; p> .01). As for the other result of this research also written down in discussion columns in this research paper.
