Abstract

Pelatih memiliki tugas untuk mengembangkan kemampuan yang dimiliki pemain. Tetapi tugas pelatih tidak hanya sebatas itu, pelatih juga dituntut untuk mampu membentuk karakter pemain yaitu tanggung jawab dan disiplin. Pelatih memiliki cara tersendiri sesuai dengan visi yang dimiliki. Salah satu cara untuk membentuk karakter pemain melalui komunikasi interpersonal karena komunikasi interpersonal sangat efektif dalam merubah sikap dan perilaku orang lain. Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana strategi komunikasi interpersonal pelatih dalam membentuk karakter pemain tim basket Pra PON Banten Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitataif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus, yang mana hal ini dianggap relevan untuk menganalisa strategi pelatih dalam berkomunikasi dengan pemain. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara mendalam terhadap pelatih dan asisten pelatih Pra PON Banten. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi komunikasi yang digunakan pelatih efektif dalam membentuk karakter pemain yang bertanggung jawab dan disiplin. Hal tersebut dikarenakan pelatih dapat memahami pribadi pemain dan memberikan instruksi yang jelas dalam proses pembentukan karakter pemain. / Coach have the responsibility to develop player’s skills. But not only develop the skills, coach is also require to shape the player’s characters about responsibility dan dicipline. One way to shape the player character is through interpersonal communication, because interpersonal communication is very effective in changing attitude and behavior. The purpose of this research is to understand how the strategy of coach interpersonal communication in shaping the character of pre pon banten basketball player. This research is using qualitative approaches with case study research method, which is relevant to analysis coach strategy in communicate with player. The data collection technique is using deep interview with the coach and coach assistant of Pre PON Banten. The findings of this research shows that communication strategy used by the coach is effective in shaping the player’s character. It is said that coach can understand player personally and give clear instruction in the process of shaping the player’s character.
