Abstract

Aspal modifikasi polimer merupakan suatu teknologi yang menawarkan peningkatan durabilitas, mitigasi gangguan perkerasan jalan, dan mereduksi biaya pemeliharaan dibandingkan dengan campuran aspal yang tidak dimodifikasi. Perkerasan jalan dengan menggunakan aspal modifikasi memiliki ketahanan terhadap fatigue, thermal cracking, rutting, serta stripping yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan yang tidak menggunakan aspal modifikasi (Yildirim, 2007). Campuran aspal panas (HMA) merupakan metode yang paling umum digunakan. Akan tetapi, akibat suhu pada proses pencampurannya yang tinggi menyebabkan emisi gas rumah kaca yang dihasilkan. Hal ini meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan akan pemanasan global yang membuat teknologi campuran aspal hangat (WMA) mulai dikembangkan mengingat reduksi suhu pada proses pencampurannya mereduksi emisi gas yang dihasilkan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan penambahan polimer Superplast dari Iterchemica kepada campuran aspal dengan kadar pengujian dari 0%, 2%, 5%, 6%, dan 8% dan dengan kadar aspal 5,6% dengan tujuan menentukan kadar penambahan polimer paling optimum pada metode HMA dan WMA dengan menggunakan metode semi circular bending (SCB). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan polimer pada campuran aspal mampu meningkatkan kualitas campuran aspal dalam segi kekuatan dan kemampuannya dalam menahan retak pada kadar penambahan polimer sebanyak 6% dengan ratarata peningkatan nilai parameter sebesar 77,7% untuk HMA dan penambahan kadar polimer sebanyak 5% dengan rata-rata peningkatan nilai parameter uji sebesar 83,4% pada WMA./ Polymer modified asphalt is a technology that offers improvements in durability, mitigation of pavement distress, and reduces life cycle costs when compared to unmodified asphalt mixtures. Pavement that made with modified binders are more resistant to fatigue, thermal cracking, rutting, and stripping than neat binders (Yildirim, 2007). Hot mix asphalt (HMA) is the most commonly used method. However, due to the high temperature of the mixing process, the emission of greenhouse gases is produced. This increased environmental awareness of global warming which made the warm asphalt mixture technology (WMA) began to be developed considering that the reduction in temperature in the mixing process reduces the resulting gas emissions. The research was carried out by adding Superplast polymer from Iterchemica to the asphalt mixture with test levels of 0%, 2%, 5%, 6%, and 8% for asphalt content 5,6% of the total weight of the mixture with the aim of determining the optimum polymer addition levels in the HMA and WMA methods using the semi circular bending method. (SCB). The results showed that the addition of polymer to the asphalt mixture was able to improve the quality of the asphalt mixture in terms of strength and its ability to resist cracking at levels of addition of polymer as much as 6% with an average increase in parameter values of 77.7% for HMA and addition of polymer content by 5%. with an average increase in the value of the test parameters of 83.4% at WMA.
