Abstract

Citizen Journalism s existence is developing nowadays. Society starts to criticize their surrounding circumstance that doesn't get special concern from their local government. They take part in expressing their aspiration by become a citizen journalist, and share the news and information that many people should known. Metro TV as a news television station accommodates and gives support to the Citizen Journalism phenomenon and existence. Wide Shot becomes one of the news programs where every Citizen Journalist to send their news video. However, they gel some constraints. The first is. the Citizen Journalism videos that they received should be repackaged, so it will be eligible to release. The writer analyzed the video that Wide Shot received with the concepts of journalism, one of them is gatekeeper: that is used in the Citizen Journalism video packaging process on Wide Shot. The videos' news qualities that Wide Shot received aren't qualified to their standard, so the videos should be reedited to become a news video which decent to air. They do the process since people don't understand with the journalistic activity. People just tell and give information about what happened in their neighborhood. The second is the Writer did a coverage as a Citizen Journalism. The Writer faced some different sources in even coverage, start from the sources who can answer some questions with critics, and also there arc sources who cannot answer the questions well. On the other hand, the Writer accompany the editor in coverage editing process until finished.
