Abstract

Sebuah konstruksi akan dinilai baik jika pada perencanaan selalu diawali dengan pemilihan bahan material konstruksi yang baik. Bahan material konstruksi akan disebut baik jika mutu pada material dapat ditentukan. Khususnya pada konstruksi kayu, untuk menentukan material kayu yang sesuai dengan mutu yang diinginkan perlu dilakukan grading kayu yang tepat. Terdapat perbedaan antara teknik grading pada standar PKKI 1961 yang menggunakan jenis kayu dengan teknik grading pada standar SNI 7973-2013 yang menggunakan modulus elastisitas. Permasalahan yang ada adalah teknik grading dengan pengelompokan modulus elastisitas tidak diberikan keterangan yang jelas dalam standar yang ada. Karenanya perlu dilakukan studi menggunakan mesin pemilah kayu Panter untuk mendapatkan nilai modulus elastisitas dan penggunaan Universal Testing Machine sebagai pembanding dalam pengujian paralel. Selanjutnya nilai modulus elastisitas digunakan sebagai klasifikasi kode mutu kayu pada SNI 7973-2013. Hasil dari penelitian membuktikan mesin Panter dapat digunakan sebagai alat grading. Namun penelitian ini sebaiknya dilakukan dengan jenis sampel lain agar dapat memberikan perkembangan dalam konstruksi kayu Indonesia. / Construction will be deemed good if the planning is initiated by selecting a good construction material. The construction material will graded good if the material can be determined. In order to determine the appropriate wood material with the desired quality particularly for a timber construction, it is necessary to do a proper wood grading technique. There is a difference between grading technique that uses wood type based on PKKI 1961 and uses modulus of elasticity based on SNI 7973-2013. The current dilemma with the grouping of the modulus of elasticity is that no clear information is given. Therefore, a study was conducted using two apparatus: wood-sorting machine, Panter to obtain modulus of elasticity and Universal Testing Machine as a comparison in parallel testing. Furthermore the value of the modulus of elasticity is used as classification of wood quality code on SNI 7973-2013. The result of the research aimed Panter can be used as a grading equipment. However, this research should be done with any other variations of sample in order to develop timber construction, especially in Indonesia.
