Abstract

The development of social media, especially in Indonesia is growing very rapidly which is marked by the number of user accounts from social media as much as 132.7 million in 2016 with three types of social media that is widely used is Facebook, Twitter, and Instagaram.The amount of social media users is one of the positive values in the promotion of Indonesian film. In the promotion of Athira movie and Pinky Promise movie use Facebook and Twitter (social media) as one of the promotional films. The process of communication from social media is very different from electronic media and conventional media. In social media we will find user accounts, followers of user accounts and also there is a technology owned social media so that allows a message to be trending topic in social media. With the technology in social media also allows a receiver to be a sender by delivering messages received in social media. Similar to conventional media and electronic media, social media is also possible to deliver messages in text and audio visual form. The tendency of messages received both by the communicant is the audio-visual message. Social media are included in the digital age is a technology that is growing right now, therefore, social media should be used as quickly as possible so useful for our daily life. / Perkembangan sosial media khususnya di Indonesia berkembang dengan sangat pesat yang ditandai dengan jumlah akun pengguna dari sosial media sebanyak 132,7 juta pada tahun 2016 dengan tiga jenis sosial media yang banyak digunakan adalah Facebook, Twitter, dan Instagaram. Besarnya pengguna sosial media tersebut jadi salah satu nilai positif dalam promosi film indonesia. Dalam promosi film Athira dan film Pinky Promise menggunakan Facebook dan Twitter (sosial media) sebagai salah satu promosi film. Proses komunikasi dari sosial media sangat berbeda dengan media eletronik maupun media konvensional. Dalam sosial media akan kita temukan akun pengguna, pengikut akun pengguna dan juga terdapat teknologi yang dimiliki sosial media sehingga memungkin sebuah pesan menjadi trending topic dalam sosial media. Dengan adanya teknologi didalam sosial media memungkin pula seorang komunikan menjadi komunikator dengan cara menyampaikan pesan yang diterimanya dalam sosial media. Sama halnya dengan media konvensional dan media elektronik, sosial media juga memungkin untuk menyampaikan pesan dalam bentuk teks dan audio visual. Kecenderungan pesan yang diterima baik oleh komunikan adalah pesan yang berntuk audio visual. Sosial media yang termasuk dalam era digital adalah sebuah teknologi yang berkembang sekarang ini, oleh karena itu sosial media seharusnya dimanfaatkan dengan sebaik mungkin sehingga berguna untuk kehidupan sehari hari kita.
