Abstract

Globalization has led to advances in technology and communication message exchange and information is getting faster. This encourages the occurrence virtual communication throughout the world. Progress of internet-based technology supported by infrastructure that is increasingly compelling, communication through virtual becomes very important in society. Technology-based progress the internet has caused many social media groups to emerge. Facebook group Backpacker International is a gathering place for fellow lovers traveling around the world. Along with the development of Traveling technology into style the lives of every individual throughout the world. Virtual communication that occurs between members of the International Backpacker group are an interesting concern for examined. For this reason, research is needed to find out how communication that occurs within the Facebook Backpacker International group. This study uses a qualitative approach with methods observation. Data collection is done by collecting data through observation of conversation in the Facebook Backpacker International group, as well as secondary data in the form of library studies and documentation. The results of the study show that virtual communication is within the group Backpacer Internatinal Facebook is very good, easy to understand and find uniqueness in every communication that occurs. Virtual communication cannot be equated with face-to-face communication because of virtual communication only use words and symbols not with feelings or language body. / Globalisasi menyebabkan kemajuan teknologi dan komunikasi sehingga pertukaran pesan dan informasi semakin cepat. Hal ini mendorong terjadinya komuniksi secara virtual diseluruh dunia. Kemajuan teknologi berbasis internet didukung oleh insfastruktur yag semakin memadahi maka komunikasi melalui virtual menjadi sangat penting di masyarakat. Kemajuan teknologi berbasis internet menyebabkan banyak mucul group-group media sosial. Group Facebook Backpacker International adalah sebuah wadah berkumpulnya sesama pecinta traveling keliling dunia. Seiring perkembangan teknologi Traveling menjadi gaya hidup setiap individu diseluruh dunia. Komunikasi virtual yang terjadi diantara anggota group Backpacker International menjadi perhatian yang menarik untuk diteliti. Untuk itulah, diperlukan penelitian untuk mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi yang terjadi didalam group Facebook Backpacker International. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode observasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi percakapan dilaman group Facebook Backpacker International, serta data sekunder berupa studi kepustakaan dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa komunikasi virtual didalam group Facebook Backpacer Internatinal sangat baik, mudah dimengerti dan ditemukan keunikan-keunikan didalam setiap komunikasi yang terjadi. Komunikasi virtual tidak bisa disamakan dengan komunikasi tatap muka karena komunikasi virtual hanya menggunakan kata-kata dan simbol tidak dengan perasaan atau bahasa tubuh.
