Abstract

Nosocomial infection is an infection obtained when the patients have been in to the hospitals. One of the nursing procedure in the hospitals are infusion. Infusion or intravenous therapy are to enter the needle (abocath) pass through transcutant and connected to the infusion tube (Edward, 2011). One of the preventive action of bacteria in the hospitals based on Joint Commission International (JCI, 2009) standart are hand washing. The Purpose of this study is to identify nurses hand hygiene application of infusion in Siloam Hospitals Manado’s Inpatient Room Fifth Floor. This study design is kuantitative descriptive. The samples are accidental sampling of 40 nurses with patients going to use intravenous access that moment. The instrument used is hand hygiene observation form by World Health Organization (WHO ) with 200 opportunity for nurses to hand washing (JCI, 2009). The result of this research indicated are, fom 200 opportunities has given for nurses to hand washing, 168 opportunities (84%) the nurses has applying hand washing and 32 opportunities (16%) the nurses has not applying hand washing (missed) / Infeksi nosokomial adalah infeksi yang didapat pasien saat pasien sudah masuk ke rumah sakit. Salah satu tindakan keperawatan yang berkaitan erat dengan kejadian infeksi nosokomial di rumah sakit adalah pemasangan infus. Pemasangan infus atau terapi intravena merupakan tindakan memasukkan jarum (abocath) melalui transkutan yang kemudian disambungkan dengan selang infus (Edward, 2011). Dalam pencegahan terjadinya infeksi di rumah sakit, salah satu upaya yang harus dilakukan sesuai standar Joint commission International (JCI, 2009) untuk mengurangi risiko infeksi dalam pelayanan kesehatan adalah mencuci tangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi penerapan cuci tangan perawat pada pemasangan infus di ruang rawat inap lantai lima Rumah Sakit Siloam Manado. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel yang digunakan diambil dengan teknik accidental sampling terhadap 40 perawat yang melakukan pemasangan infus pada pasien. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi cuci tangan oleh World Health Organization (WHO) dengan memberikan 200 kesempatan kepada keseluruhan responden untuk mencuci tangan selama proses pemasangan infus (JCI, 2009). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 200 kesempatan (opportunity) yang diberikan kepada keseluruhan responden untuk mencuci tangan, 168 kesempatan (84%) diantaranya menunjukkan bahwa perawat menerapkan tindakan cuci tangan dan 32 kesempatan (16%) perawat tidak menerapkan tindakan cuci tangan (missed).
