Abstract

Material kulit alami memiliki karakteristik yang khas dan unik. Setiap detail dari permukaan kulit alami berbeda satu sama lainnya. Material ini memiliki kelebihan, yaitu memiliki stuktur yang kuat, dapat bertahan lama, dan ringan. Dan material ini juga memiliki sifat “Patina”, yaitu semakin bertambah umur material kulit alami, maka dapat berubah warna. Efek “Patina” yang bersifat alami sehingga menjadikannya unik dan artistik. Material kulit alami juga dapat di cap maupun di cetak. Kulit alami memerlukan perawatan seperti dioleskan dengan balsam kulit khusus untuk menjaga kelembapannya. Sedangkan di masa sekarang, virus Covid-19 yang sedang mewabah di berbagai belahan dunia belum kunjung usai. Maka kehidupan bermasyarakat di masa pandemi ini harus lebih cermat dalam memilih kebutuhan yang higienis. Berdasarkan sifat dan karakteristik dari material kulit alami, pengolahan dan desain didasarkan dengan pengetahuan dan permintaan pasar. Maka dari itu, penulis memanfaatkan material kulit alami untuk dijadikan aksesoris kebutuhan pandemi Covid-19, dan dengan tambahan beberapa material lainnya sebagai pelengkap pada desain aksesoris. Proses produksinya menggunakan teknik manual, dan akan melewati beberapa tahapan proses seperti memotong, menjahit, dan memoles secara manual. / Leather material got some unique characteristics. All details of leather surface really different from each leather surface. Positive point of view from this material are long lasting, lightweight, and got a strong structure. This material had “Patina” trait, if this material already old or aging, it can changes the color. This original “Patina” effect made this leather being unique and artistic surface. Leather material can also be stamped or moulded. Leather material required to maintain every once in a while to seal the leather for a good moisture. Covid-19 virus also being pandemic all around the world, and not done yet. So our lifestyle already change into a smarter choices, and we must careful to choose a product, and make sure that hygiene enough. Based on the characteristics of leather material, processing and design based on knowledge and market demand. The designer utilizes leather material into an accessories during Covid- 19 pandemic, with the addition of several materials as a complement to the accessories design. The production process uses manual techniques, and will go through several stages of the process such as hand cut, hand stitching, and burnishing.
