Abstract
Background: Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and families facing life-threatening diseases. In the palliative care team, nurses who often deal directly with patients and families. One of the obstacles to the role of nurses is the perception that care is given in vain. Objective: To describe nurses’ perception about palliative care in one of the west Indonesia private hospitals. Methods: This study uses quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The sampling technique in this study uses non probability sampling with purposive sampling. The number of samples used the Slovin formula with total error of 5% which is 149 nurses. This study will be conducted from March to June 2020. Result: Based on the results of the univariate test the results of the study found that 55 (52,4%) nurses had positive perceptions while 50 (47,6%) nurses had negative perceptions. Recommendation: To conduct seminars or palliative training for nurses and the formation of palliative team.
