Abstract

Phlebitis is an inflammation of the intravenous area where the infusion was applied. Phlebitis has an early sign that appears in the infusion area. To identify the characteristic features of phlebitis signs, nurse needs to understand the scale of phlebitis itself. Based on previous research, phlebitis is still common in some hospitals. The purpose of this study was to identify phlebitis and patient characteristics such as what are susceptible to exposure to phlebitis. The research design used is descriptive quantitative by checklist each patient based on the initial symptoms that appear. The population used was 42 medical records of inpatients of Rumah Sakit Siloam Bali in September 2017using total sampling technique. The place and time of research conducted on 17-19 November 2017 in Rumah Sakit Siloam Bali. The result obtained were from 42 patients exposed to phlebitis observed, all felt pain, 4 patients felt pain accompained by erythema and 2 patients felt pain accompanied by induration. The most common sign is pain and then accompanied by other symptoms that indicate that the phlebitis infection is getting worse. It is advisable for nurse to be more alert when the pain in patients begins to emerge / Phlebitis adalah peradangan pada area intravena tempat pemasangan infus. Phlebitis memiliki tanda-tanda awal yang muncul pada area pemasangan infus.Untuk mengidentifikasi gambaran karakteristik tanda- tanda phlebitis, perawat perlu memahami benar skala phlebitis itu sendiri. Berdasarkan penelitian sebelumnya, phlebitis masih sering terjadi di beberapa rumah sakit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik phlebitis dan pasien seperti apa yang rentan terpapar phlebitis. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan cara melakukan checklist pada tiap pasien berdasarkan gejala awal yang muncul. Populasi yang dipakai adalah 42 rekam medis pasien rawat inap Rumah Sakit Siloam Bali bulan September 2017 dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling. Tempat dan waktu penelitian dilakukan pada 17-19 November 2017 di ruang rawat inap Rumah Sakit Siloam Bali. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah dari 42 pasien terpapar phlebitis yang diamati, seluruhnya merasa nyeri(100%), 4 pasien merasa nyeri disertai eritema(9.5%), dan 2 pasien merasa nyeri disertai indurasi (4,7%). Tanda yang paling banyak muncul adalah nyeri kemudian baru disertai gejala lain yang menunjukkan bahwa infeksi phlebitis tersebut sudah semakin parah. Untuk itu disarankan pada perawat untuk lebih sigap bertindak ketika nyeri pada pasien mulai muncul.
