Abstract

The leading infection control effort is through proper hand washing. The level of nurse compliance in hand washing is one of the most influential in preventing the occurrence of nosocomial infection. In the United States the level of nurse compliance in hand washing is still about 50%, in Australia about 65%, and in the geneva hospital by 48% (Pittet, 2013). The prevalence of handwashing compliance rate in Indonesia is also still low seen from some research conducted by Yahya (2015) nurses who dutifully did hand washing only 51.3%. In Siloam Hospitals Manado hand washing prevalence in 2015 amounted to 66.41% and in 2016 amounted to 76.35%. Objective: This study aims to see how the nurse compliance level in hand washing in the 5th floor inpatient of Siloam Manado hospital. Method: This study used a quantitative descriptive design with total sampling. Sample: In this study the researcher used all population of 60 nurses in the inpatient ward of 5th floor of Siloam Hospitals Manado. Results: Results 96.7% of implementing nurses adhered to handwashing procedures and 3.3% of non-compliant nurses performing handwashing procedures. Suggestion: The hospital can maintain the nurse's compliance level in hand washing by conducting regular education and evaluation / Upaya pengendalian infeksi terdepan adalah melalui cuci tangan yang tepat. Tingkat kepatuhan perawat dalam mencuci tangan merupakan salah satu hal yang sangat berpengaruh dalam pencegahan terjadinya infeksi nosokomial. Di Amerika Serikat tingkat kepatuhan perawat dalam mencuci tangan masih sekitar 50%, di Australia sekitar 65%, dan di rumah sakit geneva sebesar 48% (Pittet, 2013). Prevalensi tingkat kepatuhan cuci tangan di Indonesia juga masih rendah dilihat dari beberapa penelitian yang di lakukan oleh Yahya (2015) perawat yang patuh melakukan cuci tangan hanya sebesar 51,3%. Di Siloam Hospitals Manado prevalensi cuci tangan pada tahun 2015 sebesar 66.41% dan tahun 2016 sebesar76,35%. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat ba gaimana tingkat kepatuhan perawat dalam pelaksanaan mencuci tangan di ruang rawat inap lantai 5 Siloam Hospitals Manado. Metode: penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif kuantitatif dengan total sampling. Sampel: Dalam penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan semua populasi yang berjumlah 60 perawat pelaksana di ruang rawat inap lantai 5 Siloam Hospitals Manado. Hasil: Hasil yang didapat 96,7% perawat pelaksana yang patuh terhadap prosedur mencuci tangan dan 3,3% perawat pelaksana yang tidak patuh dalam melakukan prosedur mencuci tangan. Saran: Rumah sakit dapat mempertahankan tingkat kepatuhan perawat dalam mencuci tangan dengan melakukan edukasi serta evaluai secara berkala.
