Abstract

Seiring berjalannya waktu, semakin berkembangnya gedung-gedung tinggi, dengan fasilitas teknologi yang canggih. Sehingga semakin banyak juga gedung- gedung bangunan bersejarah di kota-kota besar khususnya Jakarta yang ditinggalkan dan dibiarkan terbengkalai. Kota Tua Jakarta merupakan lokasi yang dikenal dengan nilai sejarah dan budaya yang merupakan pembentuk identitas kota Jakarta khususnya melalui bangunan-bangunan peninggalannya. Bangunan dengan nilai sejarah dan budaya merupakan aset penting yang harus dipertahankan untuk mendukung ke langsungan suatu wilayah tersebut baik dalam bidang ekonomi, sosial, dan budaya. Maka dari itu, diperlukan gerakan pelestarian kawasan bersejarah dengan cara melakukan revitalisasi atau konservasi di suatu kawasan atau bangunan bersejarah khususnya di Kota Tua. Salah satu upaya yang dapat diambil adalah membuat/membawa suatu fungsi baru dari fungsi lama pada bangunan tersebut bersejarah, atau yang sering dikenal dengan istilah adaptive re-use. Gedung Ex-Chartered Bank yang dipilih dalam proses perancangan ini terletak di Jalan Kali Besar Barat no.1-2, Kota Tua, Jakarta. Proses ini diharapkan dapat menginkatkan kualitas ruang publik khususnya di kawasan Kota tua Jakarta dan mempromosikan identitas Kota Jakarta sebagai penggerak pariwisata domistik maupun internasional. / Over time, the development of tall buildings, with sophisticated technological facilities. So that more and more historical buildings in big cities, especially Jakarta, are being abandoned and left neglected. Kota Tua Jakarta is a location known for its historical and cultural values which form the identity of the city of Jakarta, especially through its heritage buildings. Buildings with historical and cultural values are important assets that must be maintained to support the sustainability of an area in the economic, social and cultural fields. Therefore, it is necessary to have a movement for the preservation of historical areas by means of revitalizing or conserving in an area or historical building, especially in the Old City. One effort that can be taken is to create / bring a new function from the old function in the historic building, or what is often known as adaptive re-use. The Ex- Chartered Bank building selected in the design process is located at Kali Besar Barat Street no.1-2, Kota Tua, Jakarta. This process is expected to improve the quality of public space, especially in the Old City area of Jakarta and promote the identity of the City of Jakarta as a driving force for domestic and international tourism.
